Sniper Yogurt
Okay, a few hours ago, something started happening. Every time I opened Oblivion, the screen went black for a moment as if the Bethesda logos and stuff was about to come up, but then it closed with no error message or anything. Determined to fix and play Oblivion, I go to the Oblivion folder with the OBMM, Data folder, OBSE, and stuff. I start deleting stuff I never downloaded for fear that it might be the reason I was having problems, which included some IronPython thing (anyone heard of it?). I also deleted some Application Extensions I'd never heard of. Unfortunately, this incuded an Extension called binkw32.dll. I tried to open Oblivion, but it said it couldn't because I had deleted binkw32.dll. Do I need to uninstall and reinstall Oblivion, or is there someplace I can download it again? Why wasn't Oblivion working in the first place?

Why wasn't Oblivion working in the first place? So, you delete files when you have no idea of their function? Because the names may be unfamiliar doesn't mean they are not required. Short answer, Yes. Reinstall Oblivion and no, there is no place you can legally download just the file you need. IronPython is a required file Library for Wrye Bash. If the game closes before the logos appear you more than likely have a mod that has a missing Master file or you haven't activated it.Always read install instructions that come with mods and never delete anything if you don't know what it does. For example essential original game files. Check the folder structure of mods and files you download so you know what has been added and what is original and necessary for the game to run in the first place. darkjaffar
If you haven't cleared your recycle bin yet, you could just restore it. Find the file in your bin, right-click it, then select "restore". You will probably want to do that for all the things you just deleted. To be safe though, you could just to a complete uninstall and reinstall, as it sounds like it wasn't even the only thing you deleted along the way. Sniper Yogurt
Thank you guys so much! I restored two files back to the Oblivion folder, so I have all the game files back. I unchecked all of my unofficial mods and Oblivion's working again, so all I have to do is pinpoint which one is causing the problem.
