Fallout 3 patch 1.5 and Broken steel help

 

1 Use Games for Windows LIVE Disabler to remove GFWL

 

2 use FO3Edit to sort your mods load list

 

3 Make a 2nd shortcut to FO3Edit and place the line below in the TARGET Window

 

"C:\Program Files (x86)\Bethesda Softworks\FO3Edit_2_5_0-637\FO3Edit.exe" "-masterupdate"

 

This will update all your mods to be used with patch 1.5

 

 

3 Copy the DLC stuff into the directories where Fallout 3 is installed.

 

I found where the files are installed from GFWL (it’s in like users\<name>\programdata (which is hidden folder)

 

\microsoft, etc… (just search for Anchor*.* (or *.esm)).

 

Once you’ve found the files - go to the fallout 3 directory - there’s a data folder inside that. Go into the movies

 

folder and rename “2 weeks later.bik” to “2 weeks later.old” and then rename “B09.bik” to “B09.old”

 

Once you’ve renamed the two files; copy the 5 .bik files from where Broken Steel is installed above into the movies

 

folder (if you renamed the two files; it won’t overwrite any files.

 

Now copy the .bsa and .esm files into the Fallout 3\Data folder.

 

use Fallout Mod Manager to install the Broken Steel addon files and it’s now loaded like a normal mod.

 

4 Play project purity up to the point of talking to Sarah about deciding who gets to turn on the purifier.

Make a save game at this point.

 

Exit the game and run the V1.5 patch, it will start Fallout 3, close and exit the game,

Go to your Fallout folder an look for folder named Backup EXE, look inside an you will see the

Fallout 3 V1.5 exe, cut an paste this over your old exe and your good to go.

 

start Fallout 3 using Fallout Mod Manager, complete project purity, let the movies play,

an you will wakeup 2 weeks later with no problems. And be updated with the official 1.5 version,

 

Here is the mod load order that i am using, any other crashes or problems i dont know yet.

I had been playing with both MaxLevelWorkaround-HP.esp, and FreePlay.esp. Which i turned off

after installing Broken Steel.
