Can't get mods to work...at all

Hello

I've been having tons of trouble with getting any kind of Baldur's Gate 3 mod to work.

I couldn't do it manually because my game had no mods folder for some reason, so I downloaded the vortex manager, which seemed to somehow create one for me, with the following folders:

Mods/Gustav/Story/Raw files

And the "raw files" folder is empty.

So I do everything I'm supposed to do with the Vortex app, to my knowledge; I download all requisite mods/files for the mod I really want, being the "Expanded Warlock", then I enable, deploy, elevate, all that, plus I even untick the "enable game tracking files" (or something like that) from the launcher, like the required (according to the site) "ImprovedUI" file said I should do.

Nothing. I don't even see anything added in the game itself.

So since I now have a mods folder, I tried the manual approach once more; I copied the things it told me to into the mods folder, and it seems like I made some kind of dent once, since, after I put one in (I can't remember which mod/file did it) and tried to launch the game, it warned me that there were "file errors" or something caused by unsupported mods, and that it may not run properly.

But always the same result: nothing new, no new warlock stuff.

Note that I have tried the following:

- Dragging both the ImprovedUi and Expanded Warlock to "mods"

- Unzipping both files to the same location

- Dragging both files into the "raw files" folder of "Mods/Gustav/Story

- Unzipping both files to the same

- Attempting to somehow enable whatever might have been in there by doing what the Expanded Warlock guide said to do by going back to Playerprofiles/Public/modsettings.1sx to copy and paste the provided info, or replace it if need be...but there is no such folder as "modsettings.1sx" for me, and when I try to create one, I can't open it.

I really appreciate you guys putting these things out there, and would love to play this mod, can you help me?

P.S. The game is installed on an external hard drive, does that have anything to do with it?
