mechine
What would I use to edit a mesh an make it twice the length Then add texture with paintnet to cover it There may be a more easy way Pretty much I wana make a gun's clip that is the extended custom versionto hold 30 bullets instead of 15, an share the more realistic versionof a mod I use on Nexus
neunen
blender for meshes, and if youre using paintnet, (i dont think it was a dds plugin) do a search for ddsconvertor to change the texture files. or a lazy way of doing it would be to use the transform in nifskope and just stretch it along the z axis. mechine
Blender won't open a nif right? So does that mean I have to open the clip part with blender Blender is super hard for noobs, It took like 6 attempts just to find the nif file an find out it wouldn't open How do you learn to use nifscope an blender, the geck tutorials I did like part of it but it was so hard I almost set my computer on fire Thanks so much I did figure out how to transform verts in nifscopeIt seems this is a rather easy way to get started It only took a few attempts to get the nif to look right What would the next step be, I need to save the larger clip version nif without overwriting the old one I'm not really sure how to do thisPick a name for the nif then keep the same name in the texture edits an stuff I really don't know at all, What to do, this is great though I opened the textures with paintnet it looked like the different parts of the gun all have different textures, If I scaled the verts with nifscope would the texture scale up to an wrap the larger mesh or would I need to make the texture for the clip twice as long :/ The way I did it in nifscope that turned out, was to open the whole thing then open the + on the left, which opened parts then opened the + for clip then down below the clip part text there was one that you could right click an scale verts which kept the size of the clip but made it longer 2.0 was like twice as longthen I had to move it left an right a bit an down to make it fitthen tested the ani, but lol the clip might stick thru the charicters hand LOLZ haven't got that far yet, It really looked super cool though tanks for the uber help
neunen
both programs can be really daunting at first. blender can open nifs using the nifscripts (link is in my signature) youll also need python and the pyFFI library for them to work. as for learning blender there is a link in my signature called blender: noob to pro that is a very good resourcealso take a look at the link 'creating a custom weapon' as for nifskope there are some tutorials herehttp://cs.bethsoft.com/constwiki/index.php...Skope_Tutorials the 'lazy' way as i mentioned would be to open the clip nif (if its separate from the gun) in nifskope, select its nitristip, right click, select scale vertices, and the increase the scale along the z axis however then the uv map will be stretched, so you will either have to compensate for that by having your texture scrunched, or edit the uv map
neunen
I need to save the larger clip version nif without overwriting the old one yes, unless you want to replace the original. then youll have to make a new instance of the run that uses the larger clip mesh.. take a look at the link 'called creating a custom weapon' in my signature, it will probably help you. mechine
:D I tested it The texture streched or at least it was the same color of the gun Also having the clip that is twice the size didn't mess up the reload in gameit happends so fast All you really see even in vanity mode is a gun with a big clip LOLZ everybody is going to love this little edit if I can get a good sound for the gunan then you know figure out how to rename it. I followed the create a custom weapon to get all the tools like nifscope an paint net I thinkI think it gave me all but the plug in for blender to open nif fileswell the one from the GECK main page, at first I thought it was stupid because I thought it was showing me how to make a weapon that is a blender hahaha IDK attacking a super mutant with a blender doesn't sound that bad looking back BZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ take that mutie Ok so I needed to make a new file, what I did was rename the nif after the small editto something I knew nobody else would pick as a name, and then opened GECK Made a new weapon based off the old one with a new name, and changed the 3D model for the gun to the new one I put the edit on in nifscopeThe textures were not applyed in GECK to either of the weapons in preview but were applyed in the game world I can't really handle the tutorials yet there is just too much information an time So little stuff like this helps free up some game play time right now while I'm still totally noobish nub nub noobie Taking something already good though and putting a spin on it to make it better or different with little tricks will teach me a basic understanding Besides the author of the first mod said we could use it if we mentioned themAnd people have to download their mod too, in order to make the edited verson workIdk if I made this a stand alone thing it would be rudean I don't want to be rude I just wana shoot muties in the face :D LOLZ Feel free to post noobie stuff in here
