SS2394161
I'm wondering if somebody more experienced with FNVEdit can help with something. I have a good enough understanding of FNVEdit for making merged patches and doing basic cleaning of mods, I however don't know what all the specific messages for errors or problems specifically mean. About a week ago I decided to download TTW (tale of two wastelands) and being a big fan of fallout 3 and its world I naturally decided to keep it so I downloaded some mods to patch things such as project nevada functions, removing unused data and rocks that serve no purpose and just bog down my system, etc. After downloading an extra 5ish mods ontop of TTW I decided it would be a good idea to create a new merged patch and this is where my issues arises upon creating said patch the process goes normally and evn loads all the mods but at the en I get this Found a REFR reference, expected:ALCH,AMMO,ARMO,BOOK,CCRD,CHIP,CMNY,IMOD,KEYM,LVLI,MISC,NOTE,WEAP[0F011D2A] <Error: Could not be resolved> the first time around i figured it was probobly no big deal most errors in my experience unless fatal and cause CTDs shouldn't be much of an issue, normalyl when I play I have a good number of mods loading my main menu on the title takes around 30-40 seconds to load doesn't help that i'm playing on a 2 year old system thats a store bought computer as well. I just don't have the money or knowlege to build a new computer and i'm fine with dealing with that provided i don't crash every 20 minutes. I digress whenever I load the game with the patch the main menu doesn't seem to want to load i've waited a solid 5 minutes just about with nothing happening. I'm a patient fellow but even if it took 3 minutes to load that would be to much let alone 5+. If somebody could give me some help with figuring out whats going on i'd like to know, I know its the patch as well because loading all of the mods but not the patch and the game runs normally main menu loads in the normal amount of time and I get a approximatly 30 FPS (give or take 3 FPS depending on where I am, the thorn seems to s#*! all over my FPS for whatever reason and I drop to around 15) playing on my custom settings (roughly similar to to the high settings). I'm hesitant to alter anything less I break my game and have to uninstall, readownload from steam and then install each mod one by one.TL;DR: FNVEdit is giving me the lines above that're seperated from the wall of text and my main menu on the title screen won't load any time this century. I need help.
blove
That error indicates an orphaned record. A form that no longer exists in the master of a plugin or a form that has been retasked and is now of a different formtype. Either issue will result in no main menu. Typically you see this with out of date compatibility patches. Your merged patch is merging a formlist and one of the forms is now a REFR formtype which is not allowed in formlists. SS2394161
How would I go about fixing this then? Can I do something in FNVEdit to fix this or do I need to check each patch I have until I find the problematic one and find the appropriate version for what i'm using? blove
With your load order only crashing with the merged patch checked, one of your mods has outdated data for a formlist while a later mod overwrites the formlist with workable data but your merged patch is adding the outdated data back to that formlist. The best solution is to use updated compatibility patches. Is [0F011D2A] the form or the formlist?
SS2394161
As I said my knowlege of how to use the program is very basic, i'm giving the manual a read and gonna look around but I honestly can't tell you since I my self don't know. If you can tell me how I can find that out it would be much appriciated in the mean time i'll do my best to figure it out. Assuming I do i'll be sure to post it right away. Edit: I appologize for my lack of knowlege I understand its probobly more than a little fustrating having to work with somebody who doesn't know what they're doing. blove
Just double-check that you are using the current compatibility patches and that should resolve your issue.
SS2394161
Fair enough, and in order no (came out a few days after I downloaded and couldn't be bothered to uninstall and reinstall it), i'll have that just below this, and yes. Fair warning this load order is horrifically long :P I have a lot of mods I can't play without. For time saving purposes i'm going to skip the obvious and say i'm running the steam ultimate edition so I have the main falloutNV.esm as well as all the DLC and preorder packs. From that point on it goes as thus. SS2394161
Well this is interesting, after a whole day of checking file by file for what was causing the problem and appently of all the files it could be it was a project nevada patch for wmx. Now i just have to pick it apart and try to fix the issue. Edit: Well after the final checks in FNVedit the error wasn't appearing so I created a new patch and tried running the game now the the game crashes but not immediatly like a normal CTD it happens right around the time the main menu would normally load. drithius
If you're knowledge of FNVEdit is "very basic" as you say, you shouldn't be performing a master update as New Vegas doesn't tend to play nicely with such a sweeping overhaul of its files. SS2394161
I'm aware of what negative effects a master update can have but it can also fix problems and allow the game to run more smoothly as well. Regardless my question and issue is not conerning the master update I did, the game ran fine with it and fixed a few problems I was having, its with the main menu now crashing my game. I appriciate the warning but I wouldn't do something that could break my game irreversibly.
