FairlyNewGamer
Alright guys, I'm new to actually being interactive on the nexus forums, but I desperately need help. I'm not terribly new to modding, I've been doing it for about a year. With FO3, FNV, with no serious problems that i couldn't solve through research and trial & error. Well I got a new computer about 3 weeks ago and about 3 or 4 days ago I bought Skyrim legendary edition on steam. Now I've played Skyrim since the release but only on console (I know, how did i do it right?) only being able to watch gopher, MxR, and other modders play with mods, showcase them, etc... So finally being able to complete one of my dreams: To play an amazing and heavily modded Skyrim Of course I got excited and started creating the monster of a mod list that I now have. Slight problem being, I have about 287 mods... I know, i went a bit over board, but the mod setup is literally perfect for the way I want to play and experience my new adventures in skyrim. Now the major problem I have is that, as it says in the title, The game crashes on startup. I've looked up all the compatibility patches i could think of, I have BOSS and use it, as well as studied the information it gave me (last time i checked it said everything was fine, but BOSS isn't perfect.) I know managing load order is essential to having your mods and your game work properly so I've tried handling it myself but nothings works. I've been messing with the load order for two days now to no avail, please, PLEASE, someone help me out here. I'm almost positive it's the load order but if you see anything that incompatible and doesn't have a patch or the patch just isn't installed that might be it as well; Any help is appreciated. I know its a tall order, and its probably not easy at all, but i would certainly appreciate the help. I just want to game and mod happily just like everyone else. Load Order in the attachment to this. if you want my to just post it here i can do that as well.

Load Order in the attachment to this. if you want my to just post it here i can do that as well. First off: Skyrim can only handle a certain amount of mods, which I believe to be 255 (anybody correct me if I'm wrong). Second: When refrencing text documents, copy them over and put them in spoiler tags (like I did with your quote). Same goes for screen shots. Do that, and a lot more people will be able to look at the load order and help you, nobody is going to download anything. First thing you should do is go back and get rid of all non-essential mods (cosmetic, gameplay, equipment, etc mods). Patches, SKSE, and stuff like SkyUI will be alright to leave on. Boot up the game, and add mods a little at a time till you're back to where you were (preferably not THAT many mods though). It makes it a lot easier because you haven't started playing yet so you're not losing any progress. ripple
First off: Skyrim can only handle a certain amount of mods, which I believe to be 255 (anybody correct me if I'm wrong).Close. Skyrim can handle 255 'plugins', including the default game ESM, patch ESM, and DLC ESM's. One mod may come with several plugins, and some mods may come with no plugins (e.g. body replacers or texture replacers), so there is no fixed limit on the number of mods (which is why the OP indicated s/he has 287 mods--which is....still 'overboard' IMO). RelentlessGrit
Eh, well at least I remembered the number! Haha but yeah, that is a lot and that's the point I was making there. Is what you quoted all you can see of my post, btw? It looks really weird to me...
ripple
Oh no, I only quoted that bit because it was the only thing that needed revising. I'd advise trimming the mod list too (then starting a new game). Skyrim is a slightly different creature than previous Bethesda Gamebryo titles. For one, it's no longer possible to have a 'clean save' simply by uninstalling mods, so even though the OP says s/he has been modding Bethesda games since FO3, it's still a very bad idea to dump a truckload of mods into the Skyrim game data folder just 3 or 4 days after getting Skyrim (and actually, that was a bad idea for FO3 as well). chanchan05
I'd rather see a BOSS log than a load order list though.
FairlyNewGamer
Alright, I took a lot of your advice and still nothing. I got it down to 191 mods, 6 unrecognized by BOSS but they're just compatibility patches. Should I just do what RelentlessGrit said and unplug them all then replug one at a time?
