Sometimes and in some areas of the game I got massive FPS losses while firering some weapons. No special weapons but in special areas like "Super Duper Mart" or at the "Nuca Cola Plant".

My system should easily make it. I got a Geforce 8800 GTX and a quad core chip, 4 GB RAM.

I have to say, that my Savegame is about 40 MB in the moment (still increases every time I play), because I play the game sinca a long time.

Maybe this could be problem?

I have no idea.

Could someone help me out?

Automatically Erase Your Page File

Windows uses part of your hard drive space as "virtual memory". It loads what it needs to load into the much faster RAM (random access memory) memory, but creates a swap or page file on the hard drive that it uses to swap data in and out of RAM. The page file is typically on the root of your C: drive and is called pagefile.sys, but it is a hidden system file so you won't see it unless you have changed your file viewing settings to show hidden and system files.

Virtual memory allows Windows to open more windows and run more programs simultaneously while only keeping the one being actively used in RAM. The "problem" lies in the fact that information remains in the page file. As you use different programs and perform different functions on your computer the page file may end up containing all sorts of potentially sensitive or confidential information.

l To reduce the risk presented by storing information in the page file you can configure Windows XP to erase the page file each time you shutdown Windows. Here are the steps to configure this setting:

* Click Start

* Click Control Panel

* Click Administrative Tools

* Click Local Security Policy

* Click the "+" next to Local Policies

* Click Security Options

* Doubleclick "Shutdown: Clear Virtual Memory

you can try this as well

I often find that Windows is temperamental; when you're playing nice it works flawlessly, but then all of a sudden it can throw temper tantrums that put a 2 year old to shame. And like any child, WindowsXP very rarely cleans up after itself.

For instance, WindowsXP doesn't clear out the swap file before shutting down. This can cause serious security issues and lead to performance drops if the swap file is not optimized correctly. Luckily, with a few strokes of the keyboard we can make WindowsXP clean up in this case.

First, load up regedit (Start -> Run then type REGEDIT and press Ok). Now follow this path HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE -> System -> CurrentControlSet -> Control -> Session Manager -> Memory Management and find the ClearPageFileAtShutdown DWORD. By default its value is 0 which means Windows does not clear out the page file when shutting down. We want to change the value to 1 and enable that feature. Once done, save and reboot the PC which will leave you with a clear page file every time you start the computer from now on. Please be aware however, if you use a large page file, shutting down may take a bit longer as the system has to clear the data first!

or this way lol

Manually cleaning out the Temp folder in Window Vista is often a necessary maintenance step when the Windows Vista Disk Cleanup utility fails to completely clean out the Temp folder.

Removing temporary files is a quick and easy task that can help save disk space and keep your PC clean of file clutter. Just follow the step by step directions below to manually clean out the Temp folder:

1. Click on Start, type the following command in the search box, and then hit the Enter key.

%temp%

This command will open the folder that Windows Vista has designated as the Temporary folder. These are folders and files that Windows needed at one time but are no longer useful. Everything in this folder is safe to delete.

2. To remove individual folders or files, hold down your Ctrl key while left-clicking on each item you want delete. Release the Ctrl key when you’re finished.

3. To delete these items, hit your Delete key or click the Organize button on the toolbar menu, followed by the Delete option.

You will probably be prompted to confirm that you wish to Delete Multiple Items. Click on Yes to confirm.

4. If you’d instead like to remove everything inside the Temp folder, click on the Organize button and then choose Select All from the menu.

Note: If you’re prompted that there are hidden files in this folder, just click on OK to bypass the message. A few hidden files hanging out in the Temp folder probably aren’t important enough to worry about.

5. Again, to delete these items, hit your Delete key or click the Organize button on the toolbar menu, followed by the Delete option.

You will probably be prompted again to confirm that you wish to Delete Multiple Items. Click on Yes to confirm.

6. After all of the files have been deleted you can close the folder window and empty your Recycle Bin, permanently removing the files from your PC.

Tips:

You may receive a Error Deleting File or Folder message while the files are being deleted. This just means that one of the files is in use by a program right now. Click OK, close all open programs, and repeat the steps above. If you still receive the message, try restarting your PC and repeating the process again

all these ways work with vista and windows 7 as well i think but dont quote me on that one :P
