Zanowar
it always bugged me that the vanilla game had so little diversity when it came to armors. you had leather armor and only one style, you had elvan armor and only one style, you had orc armor and only one style. thats one reason i liked armor mods that ads different styles of armor to the game. realisticly, yes during the medevil times in one specific region you would have a set of armor of one style that was common place "blue battle ready armor" for example. but that was the point of nights and royalty, and similar high standard people. the commoners which stood for 98% of the population, if they wanted protection of some sort they had to make the armors themselves, and would vary drasticly from village to village, from region to region. Skyrim offers a basic leather chest peice with a leather kilt., with the only variant being the theives armor which really cant be crafted. that being said when hunting we come across many different pelts to make hide and leather out of. In real life that is true too but differnt leathers are used for diffent things, like goat leather/hide is supple and soft and easily torn, thus usually not used for armors but lining of heavy clothes and most commonly for drum heads. Cow and deer leather once tanned would offten be used for deffensive mesures, such as protection from the elements while riding or traveling or used for light weight defence. and good tanned and layered leather chest peice could stop simple arrows or sling shot. and as for bear pelts often used for layering and warmth for colder climates but not nessiarily used as armor. All in all the the armor used was to befit the environment as well as the user, so style had to befit the environment too. The leather armor of skyrim is loosly based on scotish/roman battle attire, which offered little protections but made the wearer very mobile. When getting the new dragonborn expansion we had a new type of leather. Netch leather. seeing that im absolutly no good at creating new armors or modding existing armors. i was hoping i could bring this request to light. would be nice to see a unique type of leather armor made from netch leather, able to offer protection from the ash and snow in a full layered armor that was increadibly light, seing that the netch would need light and durable skin to hold what ever gas they have in them aloft, and possibly even glow (offering illumination equivelant to that of a torch or slightly less) since the netch is a morrowind animal, maybe a morrowind(ish) style or maybe a different style altogether. Maybe something like the chiten armor without the plates. a unique syle that would benifit harsh weather would be the theme.
