Oblivion Start Up Crash

Recommended Posts

Ok. Here is my problem. I had oblivion working just fine at pretty much full detail. Then. I started up a new game just for the heck of it. and the bodies of everyone. Where gone. Only the head hands and feet remained. So I reinstalled the game. Upon reinstalling it. The game refuses to boot up. It start up the game. A little box appears in the upper left hand corner, then it goes black. I can see the mouse, which is showing that something is loading. Then half the black box disappears to show my desktop, with a windows error message.... It acts like my specs aren't up to par.. Which is weird cause I have a 2.4 ghz processor, Nvidia GeForce 9500 GT graphics card, and 2 gigs of RAM...

Does anyone know what could cause this?

Try renaming or deleting the oblivion.ini file (...\My Documents\My Games\Oblivion\Oblivion.ini)

Oblivion will then redetect hardware. It will also, probably, not recognize your video card and set everything to medium. Just change the settings according to what you think your card will support (You can always change them later)
