Followers don't follow?

I've started this playthrough as a vampire in harkons court so I could test out Serana Dialogue Addon. 90 hours later I unlocked lichdom through Undeath. I had to remove vampirism to complete the lich ritual and t did that through console quest completion and then asked Serana to make me vampire again after becoming a lich. I started looking into this and saw there was a mod called true hybrid which enabled this. I got that mod, used the ritual spell to change my eyes back to non-vampire... and now Serana is walking away. Inigo as well. Come to think of it I've had issues with KWF (Khajiit will follow) as well, Ma'kara ignores me when I ask her to follow me and Bakhai just disppeared. He doesn't exist anymore. Maybe he died... Lydia will follow me, Taliesin will follow me, Kaiden will follow me, Daumbra will follow me. But Serana and Inigo pretend like they are (the dialogue to dismiss them appears) but they don't actually follow me, they will walk back home if I summon them, they will not crouch or unsheathe when I do. It's heartbreaking not being able to play with Serana anymore since she had been there every step along the way. The KWF followers won't listen to me when I ask them to follow and they ignore the global home set for my followers which is the Scarlett.

First - spoiler tag is available from the third icon in from top left of the post/reply window. It is a white box with blue and green markings on it.

 

Installing True Hybrid may have changed your character's race or other attributes in a way to wipe out the faction associations that provide followers. One of the possible problems when changing installations after a game start. Look up the console commands that are related to factions, use the moveto player command for Serana, Inigo, and check the factions. You may be able to force them to rejoin you with the proper console commands.

So I'm guessing I have to prid them and do "setfaction 5A1A4" which is the player ally faction?

I think the command is setfac <faction ID> 1 is true 0 is false, but I don't really see how I can see if this is actually working. It doesn't seem to be.

okay setting faction to vampire (for testing) is not the same as becoming a vampire lol just makes people attack you.

 

So i saw this on the wiki:

• In the console, target the NPC question by clicking on them using the mouse.

• setrelationshiprank player 3 (3 is "ally")

• addfac 0005C84D 1 (this is the Potential Follower Faction)

I tried this on Inigo and it didn't work.

Serana will also walk super far away and then teleport back to me and keep doing this when the dialogue suggests she is a follower. (sometimes?)

Another thing I noticed. The dialogue option "So how does it feel like to be a vampire" has appeared. Assuming I don't know what its like to be a vampire.

Sadness befalls me.

So occasionally she follows me but indoors she just stands in place and outside she walks away but teleports to me when i travel or enter other cells.

I saw several possible problems in your mod list. Double-check the versions of SDA and Serana Dialog Edit you are using. They might conflict badly now, after all of the latest updates to SDA. Check your settings in NFF, so you are NOT automatically importing NPCs. That will break Serana, Inigo, and several other unique NPCs. There are ignore tokens available in NFF, read up on them. I think that you probably need to adjust quite a few of the settings. Even with the adjustments, you will probably have to load up a save from before you met any of the problematic characters.

Well darn. I didn't see SDA or SDE mention anything about the other mods by name. They're using the latest (since this playthrough started less than a month ago which is when the last SDA update came out). I got a mod that adds those tokens to customAI followers through SPID for future use. I don't think I added her to NFF but if I had, even for a moment, there weren't any issues immediately. All those mods reference "breaking her brain" if she's added to a follower management mod.

I thought that you might have missed a setting in NFF itself, there are a lot of them. I 'think' that the breaking of the AI is not always immediate, it can manifest later. Inigo 'broke' on me a couple of player characters ago, from my mistakes with NFF.

 

I hope that you can get this straightened out, but I think that you will have to start over eventually. Go to the NFF comments, and see if there is anyone there that can advise you.

Hey, I figured it out. I went into NFF MCM -> system -> scrolled down to debugging (NPC in Crosshair) and it showed serana and what AI package she was running. It showed she was running an AI package from the mod "my home is your home". I disabled and now shes following me for the time being. There's still some relationship issues where she doesn't think im a vampire and she isnt as warm towards me using SDA custom dialogue (just her vanilla dialogue) but as long she shes back i'm fine.

Yeah, MHIYH is also known for breaking custom NPC AI. Cannot use it on them. Most come with their own home setting dialog, but it doesn't mean you won't see the choices of MHIYH in the dialog options.

I used it because followers like Inigo, Kaiden, and Serana all go to... annoying locations when dismissed. With it I can all have them in one place and as a collector that pleases me.

I am pretty sure that Inigo has a relationship level that allows you to set his home, and if you use Serana Dialog Addon, she does, too. I don't use Kaiden, but I would be surprised if he did not.
