InDarkestNight
I've thought a few times that it would be sorta amusing if there was a translation for Esperanto in this game. I know translations of mods are common, but honestly I don't know if anyone's translated the base game (or more accurately its subtitles) into a language not officially supported. My native language being English, I never really bothered to think much about translation mods. Of course, I'm aware that a language like Esperanto (or most languages in general) would require a custom font to allow non-English characters. Judging by all the font mods we have though, I would guess such wouldn't be TOO big of a deal. Either way in the case of Esperanto, there's already a common convention that's been used for decades to type its non-standard characters. Some boards I've seen even have it set so such digraphs will automatically be turned into Esperanto's unique characters. Esperanto aside, it would probably be nice to see this game support more languages than the most common ones. I think things like Icelandic or Scandinavian translations would be neat. Maybe such things could even aid in learning a language. The one time I set my game to German, honestly I was rather disappointed. It quickly became apparent that the German dub had far fewer voice actors. Plus the variety of expressions used was also cut. Every single npc's farewell was always 'auf wiedersehen', in contrast to the diverse range of farewells npcs can choose from. Though I also admit I found it sorta odd seeing all the npcs using such formal language all the time when their English dialogue is highly casual. I didn't keep it set that way for long. I did try to back up the files so I could switch it back to German without having to spend hours waiting for the files to re-download, but for some reason it didn't work. Oh well. I'm more curious to know how big of a task this would be translating all the in-game dialogue to another language? I've seen mods that do this for minecraft, even in highly obscure conlangs, though I'm not sure how much text minecraft has compared to Skyrim. It probably beats it in named assets I would guess given the sheer number of distinct blocks in it. Point is, could this be done and has anyone attempted something like this?
