Arkaeyn Posted April 8, 2005 Share Posted April 8, 2005 I recently decided to pick up Morrowind and play it for real this time, after a few false starts. I decided to take a look around the modding communityand see if there's anything cool out there. Man was I happy to see that there was tons of great stuff. Problem was, there was too much. I'm not sure what the best out there is. But you, dear readers and forum-writers, certainly do know what's good. I only have Morrowind, neither expansion, which was a big problem with downloading mods. I found a Balmora expansion which looked amazing, only to discover after installation that it needed Tribunal. No fun. I'm looking primarily for things that enhance the game, not replace aspects of it. I got Better Heads and Bodies, as well as a Vibrant Morrowind and sound update. I'm excited about these. Game balancers are always nice, too. I'd really like new quests...but only good ones, naturally. So what's out there? Shower me with your recommendations! CrazyGilbert Posted April 8, 2005 Share Posted April 8, 2005 well, here are few mods that i think are necesities to have: Giants "the ultimate" made by puma man: adds tons of new creatures to the game (make sure you are a bit higher level though like 10 or something) Weathered signs: makes all of the signs in morrowind readable instead of little lines Acherons camping gear: makes you be able to carry this tent,bedroll and guarskin walls wherever you want the japenese house mod: makes a japenese house close to vivec complete with a dojo, armor and japenese weapons there are tons but thats my contribution (you can get these by either going to mwsource.com or the summit Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

It list a bunch of mods that add quests and gives descriptions. I am currenlty playing around in the Predator Mod, although I finished all the predator related quests the character is still developing. Arkaeyn Posted April 9, 2005 Author Share Posted April 9, 2005 After playing for a bit today, I remembered why I hadn't gotten far in the game before. It wasn't the lack of mods, it was the technical problems, which mods are probably going to hurt more than help. So to my list of criteria I am adding "very friendly to my video card." Puma man's cloaks and wilderness sounds seemed to be the problem. I'll check out the quests thread, but it looks a little difficult to navigate finding good, friendly, vanilla quests. I checked the technical support forum, though, and followed the Morrowind tweak link and managed to fix it...somehow. Probably by updating my video card drivers from six months old to six days old. I'm not sure why the old ones, still two years after Morrowind was released, might have been a problem, but hey, I'm not being dropped randomly at all. Now I'm annoyed by some "Stocker" fellow and his clones that one of the quests I downloaded added. Still, a better problem to have than being unable to play. Kevin Woodman Posted April 10, 2005 Share Posted April 10, 2005 You really should start saving pennies, selling aluminum cans, give blood, or sell your body, and buy the game of the year edition with tribunal and bloodmoon, most of the really good mods take advantage of the updates. This is the third time i've tried this sucker, and the first two were major false starts. Why buy the expansion for a game I don't like or can't play? My love for Daggerfall....? well, it's tempting.
