sydneyroo
Hi! Just wanted to let you know that finally I'm gonna restart playing Oblivion. Played it like 4-5 years ago but I felt like starting all over again. I vistied tesnexus and saw how many mods are out there. Heck! Back in the day we were lucky to get horse armor :) So I did my research and found this website on my home computer http://www.uesp.net/wiki/Oblivion:Must_Have_Mods So here we go: 1.Can I use The Unofficial Oblivion Patch, The Unofficial Official Mods Patch and The Unofficial Shivering Isles Patch altogether? 2. Also under the tab "Game Balance & Leveling Changes" whick mods should i use? And whick can i use altogether also? 3. Finally, which mods do you recommend? Which are the top must-haves for you? Thanks, sydneyRoo 4. Should i apply all the lastest official patches before installing any mods and unofficial patches/fixes?
orctor
1. dunno 2. you should use FCOM it's several different mods combined 3. FCOM, Playable Xilvai by slofs, thieves arsenal, Demon race, Rens beautypackfull, natural enviorment, illumination withing, hunters_performance, realistic force high, the lost spires. playable xilvai by slofs is a race modthieves arsenal: adds new arrows, like this one: you shoot on a lamb or something then you can climb up on a rope.Demon race: yupp it's a Demon race that can fly.Rens Beautypackfull adds a new race (mystic elc) and a lot of new hair stylesNatural eniorment: is a graphic mod.Illumination withing: graphic mod.Hunters_performance: uhm you can check how many monsters you killed with that character, like I've killed 200 dears ^^Realistic force high: gives you the ability to lift bodies. The lost spires: a fun quest mod That's some of my favorites the names aren't exact so it may be hard to find them :P 4. Yes Sorry for my English my native language isn't English and I'm to lazy to check my spelling and stuff xD
rhs88
1. Yes you can use all the unofficial patches together. I'm assuming you have SI and the DLC mods for them. 2. I use OOO and MMM myself. Also the AF Leveling and Quest Award Leveler 3. I highly recommend OOO I don't know about FCOM because I haven't tried Francesco's part of it, but I have always heard great things about it. I also highly recommend the OBMM and BOSS utilities. BOSS will try to auto arrange your load order to keep the mods working together well, and OBMM can be used to fix your load order on the few occasions that BOSS messes it up. Also if you want one of the best house mods, find AranMathi. There are 3 different files for it on the nexus because it's been fixed by a few different people, but those are only minor fixes. The home itself is one of the most loot horde friendly things I have seen, and it is also one of the beautiful homes out there in my opinion. 4. Install all the patches first. If you have SI I think you only need to install the 1.2046 patch. I'd like it if someone could confirm that, but I believe that's the only one you'll need. Good luck, and have fun. Vadilou
If you have SI installed you only need to install the SI official patch 1.2.416 and AFTER that all the unofficial patches. FIRST install OBSE, almost all complex mods need it. Natural Environments is a good graphic mod, it includes a weather system too. I liked FCOM, the only problem is that you will spend hours for a correct installation xD Deadly Reflex if you like gore, random criticals and some extra combat features like shield bash. rhs88
You can use OOO and AF together, just make sure AF is later in your load order. If you're using BOSS it should organize that for you though. And thanks for reminding me about psychic guards. I just clean installed and knew I forgot something.
sydneyroo
Dont mention it! Got some strange pc shutdowns though. I havent had any on my older PC but back then i havent had any mods or addons. I mean i was prepared to play but after a minute or so in the cell my computer shut downs and reboots itself. Any ideas whats going on? Is it my power supply? bben46
A shut down and reboot usually means the 5v level dropped too low. This is usually a weak power supply. But it could also be a failing component or an overheating motherboard or video card. - check your fans before spending money on a new power supply, and clean out the dust. I see this a lot when someone has an inexpensive brand name computer and then upgrades the video card. The power supplies in the brand name boxes are barely able to run the components they install at their factory. Newer video cards use a lot of power. I recommend at least a 450Watt supply in newer computers, higher wattage if you have a lot added to it. - multiple fans, dual video cards, sound card, many USB devices, extra hard drives etc. If you are lucky, it will have a standard size power supply, if not a proprietary odd size that you have to buy from them at their inflated prices. The cheap power supplies will often be rated at a higher power (Watts) than they can actually supply. Do a little research on the internet before getting a new one. sydneyroo
Thanks, bben46! I checked my power supply it is Amacrox AX-500 A (at least that is written on the box) 460W(500W peak). Is it enough for geforce 260 gtx? I also installed OCCT program on my computer and stressed my video card. The temperature went to 85 C degrees and stayed that way for over an hour then i quit the program. So that means this is not a GPU issue, right? bben46
I'm not familiar with that particular brand of power supply, but 460W should be enough. And it looks like your video card is holding up. But Oblivion is notorious for putting the maximum stress on a card. Unfortunately there is no easy way to measure the actual power output of a power supply. And no reliable way of monitoring the 5v power supply short of hooking up a meter or scope and recording what happens I (I fried a mother board this way once when a scope lead slipped and grounded out the 5v line) A failing component can be something like a capacitor breaking down on the Mother board, or a flaky RAM chip. If the problem only happens in Oblivion, try lowering the video settings to see if it goes away, or takes longer to happen. If it takes longer it is probably a heat related problem. Heat problems usually show after a time, then if you immediately reset and continue it will happen in a shorter time. If you wait a while before getting back into the game it will last a little longer before failing. You could try taking the cover off of the computer and having a fan blow into it - for test purposes only, I don't recommend leaving it open all of the time. If that helps you could try adding extra case fans to it. If your case is dusty, clean it out. remove and reinstall all boards and ram. Be sure to get as much dust out of the power supply as you can. Make sure everything is plugged in tight.
