roquefort
So ur also certain that its my PSU? I repeat I stress tested my CPU, memory,GPU and nothing so it must be PSU right? Unfortunately it's not possible to say for certain without actually doing the sort of measurements bben46 referred to in Post 10. You can say that if the PSU voltage holds steady under load, and for a reasonable length of time, (i.e when the PC is on and running everything including Oblivion) then it's probably OK. Even then though, if the voltage doesn't hold steady under those circumstances it could still be a faulty component somewhere else in the PC's boards and not a PSU fault. Testing voltages in practice would not really be a DIY job unless you've the technical experience in these matters. You'd really need an oscilloscope (as suggested by ben) as you'd need to watch for brief, temporary volt-drops (or surges) that could maybe trigger the problems, not just prolonged ones that an ordinary meter would reveal. All in all it's not really possible to do diagnosis at a distance. There are too many possibles. You'd really need to get a local techie to have a look inside your machine, but that could be expensive. Sorry to be so negative -- wish I could have been more helpful -- maybe somebody else can be :(
bben46
As roquefort said, it would probably be more expensive to get a real tech to look at your PC than it will be to buy a good Power supply. Note that your typical computer repair tech as found in the big box stores (Best Buy etc) is a part swapper and probably dosn't know how to use an oscilloscope. They do know how to reformat your hard drive so as to wipe all of your data though. And will reformat even for a power supply problem. After checking your HD for porn and private pics of your Wife or GF to download.
