mechine
Does anyone use Paint.net to reskin I just got into it I kind of like Paint.net I haven't figured out how to rename stuff Pretty much the only way I can reskin is to overwrite the original work Which is overwriting everyones privious work, which I don't really want to do Is there a way to rename stuff using netpaint an nifscope I've tried reading tutorials which just mixes me up Doing it that way just got all the files mixed up so bad that now I've deleted them an all my privious work
neunen
do you mean like "save as" instead of "save"? then you just enter a new name for the texture and select it within nifskope. or is is that youre wondering how to make a new instance of what youve reskinned, so that doesnt replace the original item? sorry if im not catching what youre asking. mechine
What I have now is the 10mm pistol extracted from the vanilla .bsa and placed in a new file In meshes under weapon I made a file named mechineModz731 Nif wouldn't apply the vanilla textures in a file I have in textures named mechineModz731 So I had to extract all the textures for the 10mm pistol an put them in the default directory which is like 1 hand pistols or something, then nif skope picked it up I made a edit on the 10mmpistol.nif then saved it as 10mmpistolExClipPretty much just making the clip longer I wana reskin it, but don't wana replace files for the vanilla 10mm Or replace other peoples mods with other guns seems like every time I try I fail though When I create the new item in GECK do I need to make a new texture packI mean I didn't see stuff like that when looking at other peoples mods in GECK Most don't even use the first person models, also GECK didn't show many textures Also the name 10mmPistolExClip, I kind of think I need to put random numbers as someone might run into having the same name for files with another gun I tired renaming everything the same, an nifscope just wouldn't display it without over writing the original files Okay so there are the Clip and Clip_n 10mmPistol10mmPistol_n10mmPistol_m 1stperson10mmpistol1stperson10mmpistol_n Also I just noticed in paint.net when you save, you can select to generate mipmaps would this be helpful? Okay so I did the reskins, an then put ExClip731 on the end of the file names 10mmPistolExClip73110mmPistolExClip731_n10mmPistolExClip731_mClipExClip731ClipExClip731_n Put all that stuff in the 1 hand pistol file Nif scope won't apply it Put it in a new file, nif scope won't apply it when set there or set to search for alts or even if I type in the name at the end of the added file This has been the last 24 hours of redundant failureeven with 2 other guns that only have a texture an normal map texture The only way nifscope will apply a texture is if it's set to the fallout data file It picks up a few other files when auto search is activated, but there isn't anything in those filesThe Data one is the only one that will apply
mechine
Okay so I opened geck I was going to try making a new texture set Looking at the 1st person model kind of showed things there was a texture file not found by GECK named efects/shinyone or something so I extracted that from textures I was kind of wondering if this is like a first person model thing Do mod makers even bother with first person? I'm pretty sure the mods out there use high res textures for both then select no world model or first person model when they create the ingame item in GECK Then all renders are high res, this might help though Just remake the 10mm using the 1stperson texture which is high res The low res is like 256x256 I guess the question is would it be worth it to make low res models for system performance? Besides the other questions above about not being able to create new skins yet with new names that nif scope will apply.

deliverance6
your best bet would be to get a copy of photoshop (theres plenty avalible to download if you use google), or get GIMP, or Paint Shop Pro X (or higher) since these progs support the Nvidia Normal Map filter... which you need to make normal maps for textures
