okie1682
Hello, fellow mod makers! I'm still hard at work learning new skills, watching videos, and playing with the Creation Kit. I'm currently teaching myself how to add constructible objects to the workshop mode, but I've run into a few bumps and I'm not sure how to fix things. I'm hoping maybe some of my fellow Fallout fans can help? I have figured out how to make the static objects, static collections, menu icons, and get everything to build properly in the settlements... but some of the items I have set to build don't act correctly. Most items have colored highlights when they're preparing to be placed, and they snap to the ground, floors, or roofs when built. Some of my favorite items, like rugs and foliage, don't have this colored outline when preparing to build. They sink under ground or float up in the air, and they don't give you the option to build unless you have the neighboring constructible object in a proper place first. Once these odd items are built, you can't highlight or interact with them again when they're placed. The only time I can interact with them again is if you close workshop mode, then reopen it. Even then, the only thing you can do with the odd objects is scrap or store them... you can't move them or place them somewhere else without storing them and trying to rebuild them again. I've tried making these items static collections with pivot points, but I still have the same issue in workshop mode. I've tried looking at many tutorial videos, but can't find a solution to my issue. If anyone out there could help me out and tell me what I'm doing wrong, that would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance everyone!!
niston
Probably those odd items have no collision.
okie1682
That would make sense. The rug I'm having trouble with isn't one that's ever used anywhere else in workshop mode, and the rose bushes and other foliage are ones that you can just walk through normally... they don't stop you or anyone else from walking through them. Is collision something you can add with the creation kit, or do you need an external piece of software to make edits like this?
LarannKiar
You can't add collision to an object in the Creation Kit, a 3D modeling software would be needed. Not necessarily 3ds Max though.. as it's a rug, there's probably a similar sized vanilla mesh. And even in Outfit Studio, you can "copy" the collision from the vanilla mesh to the custom one. If you need to make a custom collision or would like to edit the vanilla one, you'll need a more advanced software.
