Great Mod Idea

I had some time to spare to refine my ideas on this mod. This is a message I have sent to even more other New Vegas mod makers. Hope I'm not the only one that feels that if people can't cheat whenever it gets slightly harder than they'd like, many more gamehours would be added to the game.

Hello! It would be very much appreciated if you would take the time to read and consider this mod idea.

This would not be really an anti-cheat mod, but mostly like a mod that allows people to prove they have not used cheats in a certain playthrough on certain save games.

The features and ideas of this mod are simple and few, but I doubt it would be all that easy to program all this. Nonetheless, please read on.

1) The Mod would monitor any and all mods enabled and disabled during a certain playthrough and savegames. There would be an un-modifiable report given by this mod as to what mods were enabled and disabled during a certain playthrough on certain savegames. This is so that people can see if someone trying to prove he/she did not cheat, did not use a mod giving the player an unfair advantage, such as god items and whatnot.

2) The mod would also monitor any and all console commands used during a certain playthrough. Then again, a report would be given off by this mod as to what commands were used. There should be a feature that would not allow the console command to pop up at all, one that would be chosen or not by the mod user. This will allow people to still bypass in-game bugs while not being allowed to fool people they did not cheated while they did, using the console command.

3) The mod should also have a feature (a selectable one of course) that would disable game saving during combat. This usually gives players an unfair advantage.

It would be truly awesome if such a mod would be made, as I have also seen many, many people asking for a way to disable the cheat command as they did not have the self-abstinence required. This mod would be a much upgraded and improved version of what they are asking for. It would give people an incentive to not cheat whenever the going gets slightly tougher than they would like, and make people not feel immortal in the game anymore. For me at least, there is absolutely no feeling of being inferior, and only one of being utterly invincible, knowing that if somehow I get into a really bad situation I can simply /killall. Which, for me, is horrible gameplay-wise.

If you have read this far, I would like to thank you for your time and consideration. Even if you do not have any interest in making such a mod, or partnering with other modders to do so, please at least reply, so I know I have not wasted all this time typing... :P

You can turn off console commands through steam and simply not download cheat mods, it would also be damn near impossible to script the blocking of cheat mods and that's it really, it sounds cool but the only people who would download it don't need it (self-deciplined players).

No need to script the blocking of cheat mods. And it is not about self-discipline here. I have played 110 hours of New Vegas without any cheat mods, without cheating. It is about the ability to prove to anyone else you've managed to do everything on your own, without mods. Of course, it is also the feeling that you are all powerful in game as when stuff gets too hard to handle, instead of trying 10 times and succeed, you just /killall. The knowledge that, at any time, I could get out of any kind of trouble only with commands without any repercussion sucks. If there would be a mod to supervise the enabled and disabled mods during a playthrough, as well as all console commands you have put in, you would have an incentive to not cheat whenever the going gets tough. There could also be competitions and what not of who can acquire the most caps, the most levels, skills, etc.

Either way, please understand it's not about self-control. It's about, as I like to call it, the ability to measure your internet penis with other players. This is one reason I like MMORPGs, that you cannot cheat and then you can compare yourself to others.

And when it is about proving to someone you did not cheat in a certain playthrough, you send them the report of this mod, which will show them whatever cheats you used in the console, and all mods activated and deactivated. The person can then take a quick look through the mods, as most of the times the mods names are self explanatory (ie. portable tent). Either way, how many mods can a person have? If a person has too many mods, well, to bad, people won't bother reading all the report. Unless they want to prove something.
