Mesh invisible at random angles and occasionally attaching to random far-off points

i'm trying to attach a halo to a plague doctor mask as an armor addon. it's literally just a ring with a flat colour slightly transparent yellow texture applied to it and the glossiness and emit multi cranked up in the material. here's what it should look like. my problem is that it is invisible from certain angles, and that those certain angles aren't consistent - outside the canyon wreckage i have to force the camera into drastic angles and positions to get it to show up, but out in the divide vista it shows up from nearly every angle (though there are a few it disappears upon viewing from). speaking of the divide, upon entering through the canyon wreckage i noticed the halo - instead of disappearing entirely - attaches to certain points in the level. i'm not sure if that's also what's happening outside the canyon wreckage and i just can't see where the halo attaches itself.

the only explanations i could come up with was that this was some issue with the mesh being totally flat (i.e. no thickness) but changing that fixed nothing. i also figured it could have something to do with alpha sorting (like, how hair sometimes disappears in water) but this issue predates adding an alpha property.

edit: i don't think it's random points in the level, i think it's NPCs. i still don't know how i'd fix that.

edit 2: it's both; it's random points and NPCs.

If you could share the mesh I can take a look at it, it seems like it may be a structural issue/wrong flags with the nif, but I can't say for certain without having it in front of me.

Okay, I think it may have been an issue with the position. It's rigged to the skeleton, so it should be equipped as a head item, but importing it it didn't line up with the head. I fixed it up and exported it. You can change the position how you like, let me know if it's working now.
