Chem quest discussion forum

This is a forum to discuss upcoming features for the mod CAM - Chems Alcohol and Meds

We will be needing voice actors once everything is layed out, so feel free to post if you'd like to voice an NPC.

I'll update the main post as we layout the plans and I have time :D

This forum will very likely contain spoilers.

Anyone and everyone's opinions are valid.

Looking for someone who can do meshes, I can do new textures all day, but haven't learned blender yet.

 

===NPCs===

Guy 1 - Will be encountered three days after completing Goodsprings quests, leads you to Doctor ?s house, you can follow him, he'll travel from Goodsprings to Nipton, after you find Doctor ? and he gets his fix, he'll take up residence in one of the homes.

Spends time getting high around town, usually found laying around somewhere

Doctor ? - Main quest giver, drug dealer, originally located in a basement in Nipton in a hidden bunker.

Spends time in his house at night and in the lab during the day.

 

===Interiors===

-Several interiors will improve as more people take up residence in the town

Doctor ?s house: Either the booby trapped house or the house with the guns hidden around it. His lab is located in the basement, mostly destroyed by the legion.

Player house: at some point during quest progression, one of the empty homes will be given to player.

 

===Quests===

Quest 1 - Set up shop, most of the doctors stash and equipment was destroyed by the Legion attack, and you need to fetch several items. One you have to buy from Red Rock Lab, or you can steal it.

Needed, chem lab, generator,

Quest 2 - Repeat business - Hand out samples of the doctors product in freeside and the strip to generate some business

 

Radiant Quests

RQ1: Deliver package to purchaser.

Reward: Caps/Samples

 

RQ2: Find 10 *Drug* for Doctor ?

Reward: High level chem(s)

 

===Encounters===

Enc1: Player is approached by a man in freeside looking for a fix, can either sell him some drugs at higher prices, or intimidate him for some caps

 

===Chem Changes===

Remove adderal or amphetamines, as it's basically redundant

-New Chems:

Hydrocodone

Oxycodone

Bounce: A new stimulant developed by doctor ? with the help of the player. It's a helium enhanced jet that lightens the body, increasing carry weight and jump height.

 

-Updates for old chems:

Change effect name to accuratly describe effects (right now it reads sedation instead of AP - 10

Add visual effects to sedatives

Add hardcore effects to drugs. Hunger supression, drug crashes, and cotton mouth

 

===Feature changes===

Chem crafting I'll be adding in more recipes for drugs that don't have them. Other recipes will be changed, to be more of a batch recipe, but will generally require a wider variety of ingredients.

Well, could you please give opiates and benzos some kind of visual effect, because fallout 3 BLTC had a visual effect for opiates but this mod doesnt (and for some reason neither mod has a visual effect for benzos).

 

Like nothing extreme, but like codiene could cause minor screen blur and heroin could cause a little more screen blur. And xanax could cause a effect similar, but not as intense as, alcohol?

 

And possibly add a "drunken walk" and vomit effect to alcohol if you drink enough (like the drunken NCR people)

 

And you know that "animated stimpack" mod where you inject the skimpack? Maybe your could add that injection animation (or something like it) to some of the IV drugs (like morphine, psycho heroin)

 

Also, could you make it so that that benzos causes your tiredness to temporarily increase on hardcore. And stimulants temporarily make you not hungry (like they already make you not tired according to the other mod)

+1 to these, esp the dunken walk. Also if you could include something like what was found in that mod realistic addiction, that'd be awesome in my books.

 

AFAIK Realistic addictions isn't here on the nexus anymore, but it basically decreased the severity of the players addictions over time if you were able to go without using them.

Are you looking to expand the crafting side of the mod? If you are, a couple of thoughts -

 

1) see if there is a base crafting mod that is currently being maintained that you can work with to expand compatibility (sorry, I'm a crafting freak).

 

2) for raw matierals, here are some suggestions -

a) Ephedra nevadensis grows in the region, and provides the base for ephidrine and all its related drugs

b) Psilocybin mushrooms and peyote would be imported....peyote from further south, and psilocybin mushrooms from Zion.

c) LSD is complex, as are some of the other drugs, however the components needed for them would be the basis of a large number of other compounds. Abstracted, chlorine (from salt), phosphorus, ammonia, ethanol and ergot (grow from sugar, essentially) are needed to create LSD. Salt extraction should be happening in some of the salt flats (the idea that it isn't is silly). Phosphorus would be coming from Utah via the Mormons. Ammonia would be being produced at the Hoover Dam, since ammonia is one of the most important chemicals in modern industrial chemistry. Ethanol and sugar are a bit more obvious. :-)

d) MDMA and MDA require sasafras (of all things), which also should be obtainable from Zion.

e) pain killers actually are some of the toughest. Either opium poppy or piperidine (for synthetics) sources are needed, and neither would be likely in the area. Piperidine is a real loss too, since it is also the base for a number of other drugs including PCP and ketamine.

 

I imagine that is probably more than you were looking for, but let me know if you want me to look for more information along these lines.

Hello! I have a great idea for a quest and a backstory, you were a drug mule and courier before you got shot and you were suppose to be making a delivery for a powerful drug lord, the only problem is you forgot everything to do with this shipment and even the client himself.

So when you start selling drugs he quickly hears of your exploits and sends you a warning on holotape which leaves you 2 options, either you work for him and pay back what you owe which is impossible cause of growing interest% you would work for him for life and he would always take a cut of your profits, or you can go up against him and his crew if you choose war he will send Assassins similar to like a talon squad from fallout 3 I loved and hated them showing up,

This quest should be optional of course not everybody likes being randomly attacked It would be realistic though lol.

And if you actually take out the drug lord then you become the new drug lord with a second in command who collects caps and supplies to make more product.

Cause you cant be the boss without getting bloody and dirty!

I'm definitely up to voice. I love this mod, it's the only one that takes a realistic and mature approach to drugs.

 

I hope you make mescaline more prevalent in the future. It stands to mind that it would be one of the easiest drugs to obtain in the Mojave.

I am hoping to expand crafting more, and would prefer it be semi realistic (since crafting isn't all that realistic, at least have the proper ingredients. I also don't like using other mods as a base, so I'll do it all from scratch..

 

So on that note, if you were to write a list of drug ingredients, I could make custom textures for each. Then get started on recipes.
