EvilCommunistGod
I was once thinking about Russian Civil War randomly while playing the CW questline in Skyrim and thought that the fact there are only 2 total factions and random civilians who are neutral is a little weird, since there are as many opinions on things as there are people, and came to a conclusion that there has to be a third faction at least, something resembling Greens (a RCW faction of just raiders and farmers that liked neither the Reds or Whites, but sometimes small groups did join forces with one or the other) and not Makhno's forces (let's call them Blacks for simplicity sake). But the Skyrim faction would be called "Tired ones" or something along those lines. The general idea is that they're kind of neutrals: they don't really care about Talos or the Empire, they care about the war affecting their lives due to poverty, destruction, radicalisation of their family members and friends, inability to survive on their own due to getting robbed or taxxed heavily by either faction. These people lost everything and don't care about anything rather than stopping the war. Their main base would be found near Whiterun, the only city that didn't join either side, in the ruins of the fort (I don't remember the name honestly, just the fort near Whiterun) but wouldn't let DB in until some prerequisites have been met. They have camps in previously bandit-owned dungeons, one per each hold (except the Reach but about that later), but aren't openly hostile by any means, and if you try to interact with them in these camps they will gladly tell you to join them and how they're the good guys and answer some questions about their ideologies, share their sad stories and even trade. But after either side was taken by DB they will become hostile to both Empire and Stormcloaks as they will be defending Whiterun alongside their city guard (which means Empire players would also have to take Balgruuf on and replace him with another Jarl, from the Battle-Born family). The general design for them would be wearing Iron armour, CC one too, to differentiate between their units, like they have general soldiers wearing normal Iron and hardened one (or what's it called) with Ancient Draugr weapons (simply for the sake of difference from bandits and, well... rule of cool) for their Archers/Soldiers and Warriors, while their command units and battlemages would be using Iron Plate. Their questline would be more interesting than the one we have in vanilla, as it would make us take a more Saboteur kind of role, a Propagandist one (meaning at some point we will have Imperials and Stormcloaks within the ranks of this third faction in their armour but with Red and Blue colours swapped for Yellow, colour of these neutrals, as well as Whiterun) and a "Smith" one, with bringing new kinds of weapons and spells for the faction. As for the Reach thing I mentioned earlier: "Tired ones" would launch a military campaign specifically against the Forsworn, and we can find their forces surrounding some of the more important camps, then ask to speak with their commander, who will clue us in what's going on and ask if we're willing to join. In case we do there will be a succession of siege-like missions and results us to actually go to the main fort of the faction near Whiterun and officially join, starting CW on their side. Alternatively we can find their recruiters in Solitude and Windhelm in the taverns, who will direct you to the Reach. These commanders will be wearing the Silver armour set. I am willing to do the writing if anyone good enough with the technical side of Skyrim is willing to actually do this whole thing. Not to say I am good at it, but I already have some of the things planned a little. And, finally, even if you're here to read this wall of text -- thank you for taking your time to read.
