Search and replace words in game ?

Hello,

I'm a complete beginner and don't know how to mod games. However I'm a developer so I think I can handle myself simple text replacement if I know the basics of modding.

 

I'd like to find and replace some words in the game, it would be from dialogs, books, narrator speech, whatever all the occurences would be switched to the words I'll choose.

For example I want to replace all the words "night" by "party-time" (that's not true :p )

 

What are the basic tools to download to mod myself the game please ? If there is an extra tutorial that would be great.

And are the dialogs/in-game-texts files all stored in the same folder ?

 

Or maybe (that would be great), all files that contain texts can be directly modified without having to install any mod, but any game update would reset all the modifications so having a mod is probably better.
