[LE] Trying To Make An NPC Overhaul

Recommended Posts

Hi! I've been looking for an NPC Overhaul with a good mix of rough and pretty but after finding none to my liking I figured now was a good time to try my hand at modding! So I did some searching for any tutorials that could be helpful to me but, and honestly I could just be looking in the wrong places, I'm having a hard time finding ones that are not for personal use. So I suppose my questions are two.

1.) The personal use tutorials use Racemenu, the Mimic Spell, and Creation-Kit, does any of this make it only personal use or is this viable for an actual mod creation?

2.) Are there any helpful tutorials I could be linked to? I've looked through Nexus, Forums, Reddit, Youtube, but again I just might not know exactly where to look for it.

Just a quick note about my background with modding in case it's needed, I have enough knowledge of SSEEdit to make custom patches for my load order and my knowledge of Creation Kit pretty much stops at regenerating FaceGen. So I'm not a super beginner but it would still be helpful to have clear instructions and explanation.

Any help is appreciated, thank you!

The Creation Kit is definitely viable for community mod creation; if you wanted, you could do this by editing each NPC in only the CK if you're ok with a vanilla Skyrim look. Never used Racemenu so I don't have anything to say about that (ngl, had it confused with the showracemenu command at first). The CK can be finicky however so Creation Kit Fixes is worth getting.

I don't know if you want tutorials specifically on NPC overhauls, but the Creation Kit wiki, or the UESP fork, are really valuable resources nonetheless. You might've already come across the Nexus wiki too but there are a lot of tutorials there pertaining to NPCs which may help.
