Yeah, the damn mod manager has crashed for the 7TH DAMN TIME!!!!! Do they even want us to use this site and it's mod manager, or just keep it on our computers for scenery? Dude, they're trying to get it all sorted. Just deal with it and stop being such a pansy.
oyclo Posted January 13, 2014 Posted January 13, 2014 Why do people complain so bitterly when an awesome but free service is having technical difficulties due to its popularity? My guess is its free users doing most of the complaining.
Madrias Posted January 13, 2014 Posted January 13, 2014 I understand the free service having troubles. To the complainers: set up a service that services, say, a million requests an hour out of your own home and see how long it takes before your modem melts. Also make sure you have a backup modem that only services a forum for your service. That way when it goes down, your users can bash you for being incompetant and not providing their service. I, for one, welcome Nexus outages. I stop beating the crap out of my games with mod after mod, and I start playing.

I guess what i'm trying to say is that people are s#*!

This service is hosted out of datacenters, there's no way a residential connection could manage even a small fraction of this, even if the setup was perfect. Edited January 13, 2014 by Coreinsanity

I know the Nexus is hosted out of datacenters (I do read the network updates they post from time to time, and I followed every update they posted regarding the upgrade). My reason for saying they should run it out of their home is then it makes it personal when things go wrong. You can't then pass off the blame as "the server needed a restart." or "The weather's bad, sorry." In the case of the Nexus, they're doing the best they can, and it'll take them a while to iron out the wrinkles. I know full well that a home connection can't run something the size of even a tenth of the Nexus. My only reason for saying they should run said similar service from home is so that they get to receive all the flak from having the site down for a couple hours.
wolfblitz1337 Posted January 13, 2014 Posted January 13, 2014 In response to post #11181752. While I don't agree completely with your wording, that's part why I never use the steam workshop. That, and finding a good mod there is worse than hunting for diamonds in Minecraft.
Nengrana Posted January 14, 2014 Posted January 14, 2014 Thank you for the update. I am really glad things are looking up for Nexus. I have not been keeping tabs on everything. I have not downloaded the new NMM. Are people still experiencing the issue of having their mods wiped? Ive been using mine in offline mode and waiting for all the hiccups to pass. Please advise. Thanks for the great site!

I can understand that then, and yeah, they would have a ton of outage lol. In fact, I would imagine if they got a fraction of the traffic Nexus does it would essentially be an unintentional DoS on their connection (which would be quite funny).
dobmc Posted January 14, 2014 Posted January 14, 2014 In response to post #11181667. Or people could instead stop playing this old, semi-broken game and move on to something else.
