It's useful to test attack rolls and damage rolls, to see how certain buffs or bonuses are stacking, or to just understand the breakdown of an attack roll. There are many practice dummy targets in the game, but they don't actually work - it always does 0 dmg, and no details are given in the combat log.

With the amount of enchantments that are broken in the game, this is extra useful. I've been carrying Mystra's Blessing for a while, only to just realize it mostly doesn't work!
