It is litteraly an option in the game combat made easy cheese It is all about the narrative experience where you can put story before combat. In this mode friendly NPCs are harder to kill, and trader prices are better, but the biggest change comes to the proficiency bonus. In Explorer mode, you get +2 to proficiency, giving the player +4 at level one. This will not only make combat much easier but all other rolls as well, allowing you to worry less about failing and focus on experiencing the story.
