SteeleMontgomery
Of course we all want this. But how can it be done? Well, in some sense it already has, as there's a mod that allows you to just hit a teeeeny tiny loading screen when you hit the edge of the tile, and it loads in another tile. What we're missing is the ability to fly our ship (at low speed for Game Engine reasons) within the atmosphere. That's it.
Omelette
I don't want this. It'd be a huge effort for something we'd check out once cos it's technically cool and then never again because it's not actually fun in gameplay terms. Planets are really seriously huge, who wants to spend hours flying over the same randomly generated content of a monotonous biome with way of ever reaching anything important? Also I don't think you could transfer from one biome to another in any way that looks reasonable. The game just renders the distant view of the same biome, it doesn't have a border where e.g. tundra turns into desert, so you'd either get the same biome forever, or suddenly all your grass would turn into sand. there's a mod that allows you to just hit a teeeeny tiny loading screen when you hit the edge of the tile, and it loads in another tile What mod is this? All I've seen is an ini tweak to disable the planetary boundary, but it doesn't load in a new area at the edge, it just lets you keep walking in the visible area. If you go too far, the game crashes. I think the bigger part of your request is atmospheric flight though - that's a whole lot of coding modders would have to add, not just leveraging things that already exist in the game. Atmospheric flight would have totally different physics from spaceflight, not to mention the complications of being able to take off and land anywhere.
