There are apparently some issues as regards accessing Bethesda servers when launching Starfield.  This is not all that unusual (it is seen quite often in the Steam Skyrim Special Edition forum that people ask about this) - you just need to keep trying. (The game can still be played, you just will not be able to access anything as regards Creations.)

There is, in fact, a thread about not being able to connect to the servers in the Steam SSE forum right now, so it is not something solely concerning Starfield, but is affecting other games, as well (probably system wide at Bethesda's end).

You're not the only one waiting for that - hopefully it will be the usual extremely quick work in getting it done.

Fortunately for myself, I'm not currently using any mods that require SFSE, so no worries on my end.

If the game fails to launch after the update and Shattered Space DLC install, first try validating the game files - a number of people had similar issues and upon validating, the game reacquired 7 files, and then started. At least that is the first thing you should try.

I tried to eliminate a bunch of them the last time Steam ignored my preferences and updated things, but there are just too many quality of life issues that should be in the vanilla game but aren't, and only SFSE mods correct them.  I could probably do without a few things for a while, but I'd rather just wait.
