Getting weird bald spots with my female hairstyles all of a sudden

I haven't installed any new mods for weeks, but this problem just recently came up and I don't know why. Some of my female hairstyles (like the one in the picture) have bald spots, it's as if the hair does not fit the head. Can anybody help me fix this please?

It has been a long time since I have worked with hair, but I will give this a try. I am not sure of your knowledge level on this subject so I will just try to hit it all as I know it.

Every Race has a head Mesh that makes it a certain shape. Vanilla human adult males in the game use the file HeadHuman.NIF and females use HeadFemale.NIF to make the shape. This shape is static and does not move or shape itself like a real human head. The Texture file makes the heads look different and aged. The Hair that goes on characters is also a Mesh shape. If you looked at it in Blender or NifSkope you would see it looks like a wig that you would put on the character. The hair is static and also does not move or shape itself at all. So if your making a custom female hair you have to use the HeadFemale.NIF mesh to conform the hair to that head shape. Otherwise you get the head coming through the hair mesh and hairs sticking through the skin and clothing, called clipping. Even being very careful and taking your time you still will end up with some clipping from time to time.

I am not sure what mods you have that affect body or head meshes if any or what custom hair if any you might be using. To me it simply looks like a custom hair style or custom head mesh or both that just don't quite come together correctly. Now why this happened all of the sudden I could not say. Fallout can be strange when it comes to that kind of thing. It could be that depending on the head position or lighting you just did not see it a first or it could be Fallout just decided to mess with you...trust me it happens.

I know you've posted a while ago so I hope you see this...

But I came across a similar issue but it's a little different

My follower's hair is okay when she's standing or sitting, etc

but when she is in sneak mode there's a "bald spot"

only when she's sneaking i guess her hair goes into the back of her head

I've read what you said and I think that's my issue right?

is it the head mesh that needs fixing specifically or is it a hair issue.

Would you also mind going into a little more detail as of how to fix it if you know?

Thank you~
