Earth-like ruins, various styles

Since the game simply creates random landmarks, as pre-defined structures... Extend on this, by making the structures a bit modular, with pre-defined segments, instead. Similar to ship-building and base building, where some parts just "fit" together, but not all parts are needed, beyond being "built off one another", where they fit. Having 20 styles of "big rooms", "med rooms", "small rooms", "long rooms", etc... Each with various potential drop-in decoration styles, to fill the spaces.

For instance, on Earth or other close planets. Have the random structures be ruins of buildings. The innards, mostly underground, could be free for modular pre-fab designs. Such as rooms connected to halls, with rooms and impassable doorways. It wouldn't be too hard to create a series of swappable, fittable, alternate rooms and halls, with some exclusions to hide unused doorways. All fitting within the open-world, if minimally populated with "stuff", or more populated, preserved, buried ruins, through doorways, like the cave systems.

All of these structures being a general theme, for an area, marked as "Old city ruins". So, all the structures around the landing-site, would be ruins in every direction. (Not tons of ruins, but just like it is now. Instead of trees and grass, the trees and grass would be ruin-scraps. Steel beam structures of ruins, walls of ruins, piles of ruin rubble, chunks of turned-up streets, instead of rock formations. Etc.)

Themes...

Big building city ruins. Industrial area ruins. Amusement park ruins. Small city ruins. Housing development ruins. (Maybe a few "Large fallout bunkers".) Farmlands. Sea-side port-towns. Mountain range lodges (Including ski-resorts with ruined ski-lift remains.) Power grid stations. Mega-mall ruins and surrounding strip-mall ruins. Etc.

Since they are all ruins, having been there for a while. It would make sense that pirates were hiding-out among the ruins. It would also make sense that a few new towns would have sprung-up, near these old ruins, as a "biome class". Adding to the global realism of the city structure of old and new structures.

This would not have to be limited to Earth only. It could also be a biome on any other potentially "livable planet". Further increasing the "pool of pre-fab parts" that can be combined to make the chunks of ruins.

In essence, to a point, it would be like a thinner version of Fallout 4, at a much later date in time. Most of the structures unseen, under the rubble and debris that covered the rest of the world. (Story-line, if one does not exist yet. "The world faced a major life-killing field of asteroid debris. There was no singular meteor, only a steady stream of debris, from two massive meteors that collided, in space. The debris clouding the Earth's atmosphere and surface for 100 years. A slow death, which gave everyone time to advance technology and get everyone off the, soon to be, totally inhospitable planet.)
