Money sinks to justify time spent building productive outposts

I love games like satisfactory where you keep expanding your production to meet a certain goal or quota. I was very exited for outposts in Starfield and the fact industrialist was a trait option. Playing the game however I had more than enough money to buy a maxed out ship and gear without touching outposts. There is just no tangible reason for building out production on your outposts as you have more than enough money for your needs. What I feel the game would benefit from is a money sink that can reward you for becoming an industrialist and building large production outposts. My idea is similar to the Skyrim mod where you exchange dragon souls for perks or stat upgrades. In Starfield you could spend large amounts of money (100k+) to grant you a perk point or undergo expensive augmentation surgery to boost your stats. Could also add cybernetics to the research station where you must funnel huge amounts of resources to develop higher tiers of cybernetics, which could be an actual equipment like the headpieces in game, but with better stats like movement speed and such.
