Octopussy Posted January 11, 2014 Posted January 11, 2014 Hi all, i've had slight horizontal screen tearing consistently in the lower third of the screen whenever i move my character or turn the view. Vsync is on, i've tried turning it off but that didn't help. FPS is between 40-70 usually. Any ideas?
ZeroKing Posted January 12, 2014 Posted January 12, 2014 If you're getting 40 - 70 fps, then VSync isn't properly active. If your monitor is 60 Hz (like mine, for instance), then the maximum your framerate should be 60 fps (in other words, your framerate range should be 40 - 60 fps), if VSync is enabled. If VSync isn't working, use a framerate limiter via drivers.
Octopussy Posted January 12, 2014 Author Posted January 12, 2014 It only goes over 60 when vsync is disabled (via Catalyst Control Center). CCC is what I was using to enable "v-sync" in the first place. Also, the tearing is ALWAYS in the exact same position, every time i play.

Joeyjoey92 Posted January 13, 2014 Posted January 13, 2014 Go into your Documents, My ganes, then Skrim prefs, Hit shift F, and type Ipresent, should pop up, its the v-sync, make sure its set to 1, and then reset your CCC to default, try that perhaps :)
Octopussy Posted January 13, 2014 Author Posted January 13, 2014 Yep it's set to 1, I checked that a few hours ago at the suggestion of someone in chat. Just tried resetting CCC to default, no luck. I also tried turning off OpenGL triple buffering, to no effect :(

Anyway to make skyrim works correctly with vsync and ati you need to be sure that your display is recognized as display number 1 in windows display property and in CCC (probably your CCC set it as number 1, windows as 2). If not, swap the monitor cable on the dvi connector.Install or remove the skyrim stuttering 64 hertz fix to view if tearing changes.

On the Windows display property my comp monitor is indeed "number 2", while my TV (i have a 25' HDMI cable running to my plasma in the bedroom) is number 1. What exactly do you mean by "swap the monitor cable on the dvi connector"?
