Zombra
I'd like a dialogue option with my companions: > Follow my lead and keep quiet. When I say this, they change to "Sneaky Mode". In this mode, they cannot enter combat mode unless I myself have pressed the attack button in the last 3 seconds. If I don't attack for 3 seconds, they leave combat mode even if they see enemies. If I want them to return to the more aggressive default mode, I can initiate dialogue again and say something like: > If you see trouble, don't hesitate to fight back. Zombra
And if a dialogue trigger is too complicated, I'd be very happy if this behavior was simply hard coded into any companion character with the Stealth or Concealment skills. Montiness
Seems superfluous, the current behaviour is1 - player enters stealth2 - companion follows stealth3 - companion remains in stealth until a: player breaks stealth b: companion is discovered and fired upon c: player fires upon enemy perhaps there is a float and boolean somewhere that can alter the time it takes for companion to enter stealth and to break stealth and return fire. personally I don't see this as a good idea, as it requires finding and speaking to your character, when being fired upon, to get them to assist in the firefight. Zombra
Seems superfluous [based on the current behaviour]. Companions entering combat isn't really the issue. The issue is that once they're in combat, they stay in combat basically forever. The important part of my request is this: If I don't attack for 3 seconds, they leave combat mode even if they see enemies. personally I don't see this as a good idea, as it requires finding and speaking to your character, when being fired upon, to get them to assist in the firefight. You didn't really understand my suggestion. Maybe I should have given it a less confusing name. (EDIT I just renamed the thread to "Sneaky Mode" instead of "Stealth Mode".) "Stealth Mode" (aka "Sneaky Mode") in this context doesn't mean "Never attack ever ever". It means "Stay out of combat unless I have pressed the attack button recently." If you want to reenable combat mode for them, all you have to do is press the attack button. The dialogue events are intended to toggle this whole setting on and off, in case you want to reenable the vanilla "Running around like Rambo" behavior in between encounters.
