Here are some ingame screenshots.

I'm only a beginner at skinning and was wondering if anybody could skin this model for me in exchange for some model or texture work....

I would also give the person credit in this mod...

thanks

The legs look a bit small compared to the upper body. Perhaps maybe trying Zeta-style legs might help: http://www.mahq.net/mecha/gundam/z/msz-006.htm

  • 3 weeks later...

Anyone know any good weight painting tutorials for 3DS MAX?

Or even better, Is anyone willing to skin this model? Full credit will be given...

I haven't abandoned this armor. I'm just stuck at this point.

thanks

skinning a model (and doing it well) is probably the most demanding part of the entire 3d art world.. And getting models setup for export to Fallout3 with full support for dismemberment and everything is... well, really meticulous and time consuming :)

i would hazard a guess that less than 25 people on the entire nexus site (out of over a million members) know how to properly skin models, and less than 5 know how to get dismemberment to work. It takes alot of patience, dedication and scrutiny.

ill write up a tutorial someday with pics and everything, but for now my free time is slim as it is, and what i do have i devote to my own mod for now. I just did a google search for '3dsmax skinning tutorials' and it came up with about 35 thousand hits lol.

one thing i will say is that for the skinning process you need the following:

-fallout3skeleton

-fallout3 nude base male/female

-fallout3 vanilla armor that closely matches your own (template)

-in 3dsmax, you will need to use the following modifiers:

-Skin

-BsDismemberment Skin Modifier

-Edit Poly (the modifier, not the 'convert to Editable Poly' button)

-in nifskope you only need to copy and paste over your nitrishapes, copy branch and paste branch your dismembermentskininstance branches and point your shapes towards the new skininstance branches and delete the old ones.

There are probably some decent tutorials in the oblivion section of the TesNexus.com's articles area. Havent really looked yet.

like i said, ill write one up someday, but the process is pretty involved.

For help with the dismemberment part, check the NifTools wiki look for 3dsmax dismemberment tutorial
