Blue and Purple Textures

Sounds like missing textures...

The "why/how" all depends on what you have installed and what's trying to overwrite what (if anything). Something's trying to apply a given texture (via its object mesh's texture definitions) and they're not being found.

It *could t be SMIM related. It could be something else. So, what leads you to SMIM?

If you're on the current version of Skyrim, you could start by using Bethesda/Steam's file integrity checker. if it finds any vanilla assets are issues, it'll hard overwrite them to correct the issue.

If the issue is a result of some enhancement/replacement mod, note that the checker won't (?usually?) fix issues brought by third party content though (ex: some city overhaul). Those you'll have to sort out by examining your mod list and looking for mods that fiddle with the areas in question, and fix whichever underlying issues aren't linking the texture files to the mesh

If you can install the mod More Informative Console ( https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrimspecialedition/mods/19250 ) on your system, you might be able to get information on exactly which mod is the problem by moving close to the faulty texture item, open the console, and click on the faulty item. One of the information fields has something like 'last modified by', which could lead you to a specific mod or mods in your load order.

It is my understanding that if the fault is in 'loose files' - not packed into a .bsa in a mod, then MIC will not be able to tell you anything.
