Need a Point Lookout ready save

Hi, I just purchased Point Lookout, and was sad to find that my save files somehow all got deleted. I was wondering if anyone could point me in the direction of a save file ready for Point Lookout (after the main FO3 quest is completed) so I can enjoy the expansion? Thanks!

I think I can make one for ya.

Do you want it at a specific level? Weapons? Armor? Broken steel Y/N?

If you use Vista upwards you should be able to use symbolic linking to direct the game to the same saved files regardless of if you are logged in or not. (Note there are some disadvantages to doing this).

1. Open Command Prompt (Use the Run as Administrator option (right click)).

2. type 'cd "%UserProfile%\My Documents\My Games\Fallout3\Saves" '. (*)

3. type 'mklink /D "<User Xbox Live Gamertag>" . ' (**)

Assuming nothing went wrong you should have created a symbolic link back to Saves, meaning that the game should now use the same saved game files for when you are logged in and when you are not logged in (ie. using something like FOSE).

(*) - I believe "My Documents" is symbolically linked to "Documents" on Vista itself, I think it should make the jump correctly (it believes correctly on Windows 7).

(**) - Make sure you replace everything between the "" with your gamertag including spaces.

[Edit] Tested only on Windows 7 and Vista (SP2), XP doesn't support it (no mklink application).

Few words of caution,

- Generally its considered bad practice to do this type of linking as its possible for an infinite loop, that said however I don't think that's an issue Fallout would cause, maybe browsing with explorer or "dir /S" though (only been able to browse down 23 times myself though).

- Whilst not obvious, it has been reported that deleting only the symbolic link through "del" command will cause it to delete all the files in the parent directory and not the symbolic link, use "rmdir" to remove the symbolic link instead. (Although this could be considered semi useful if you want a clean slate, deleting by the GUI seems to work as intended).

As always criticism / comments are accepted.

Hope that helps,
