It's basically every paladin's wet dream, (and probably that of rogues, too :P) with cool theme and some nice features. (auto light, versatile, finesse, full radiant damage...) Meanwhile, the main game lacks an iconic magic item from dnd, the Holy Avenger. So I propose the following: ------------------------------------------------------------------------ -Sun Blade-Type:-Longsword Damage:-1d4 Bludgeoning (when sheathed?)-1d8+2 / 1d10+2 (2-handed) Radiant -(Conditional) 1d8 extra Radiant against undead (only when unsheathed?) Properties:-Versatile-Finesse-Light (not sure if this works, or should be there, but a light saber being light-no pun intended-sounds fairly fitting)-Dippable (not sure if this makes sense since the blade is supposed to be made of pure energy, but dipping it in fire and having a burning lightsaber sounds cool too) Abilities:-Command Blade:=Bonus action/Toggleable (not sure which would be better)=Bring the blade of light into existence or make it disappear. (mechanically, a 'sheathed' blade would be invisible like the Unseen Menace, and an 'unsheathed' blade would have it's blade glowing-something like this)-Blessed Daylight:=Passive.=When 'unsheathed', sheds holy light in a 6m radius. In combat, fiends and undead standing in the light are Blinded (based on Lathander's Light from The Blood of Lathander, though the blinding property can be rather op, in which case the blinding effect part can be removed) Weapon Skills: -Lacerate-Rush Attack-Pommel Strike-Flourish ------------------------------------------------------------------------ -Dawnbringer-Type:-Longsword Damage:-1d4 Bludgeoning (as above)-1d8+3 / 1d10+3 (2-handed) Radiant -(Conditional) 2d8 extra Radiant against undead (as above, lowered from 2d10 of dnd holy avenger, since it comes with other effects as well) Properties:-Versatile-Finesse-Light (as above)-Dippable (as above) Abilities:-Command Blade:=Bonus action/Toggleable (as above)-Blessed Daylight:=Passive.=When 'unsheathed', sheds holy light in a 6m radius. In combat, fiends and undead standing in the light are Blinded (as above)-Aura of Antimagic:=Action.=You and any nearby allies in 3m radius area around you gain advantage against spell saving throws. The aura disappears if you fall Unconscious. Weapon Skills: -Lacerate-Rush Attack-Pommel Strike-Flourish-Break of Dawn:=Once per short rest. Weapon Attack.=Deal additional Radiant damage equal to your Proficiency Bonus+Number of Radiating Orbs on target.=On a hit, light erupts around you in a 3m area. Enemies in the light must succeed a DC 13 Constitution Saving Throw or be Blinded. (somewhat like Dawnburst Strike from The Sacred Star, but additional synergy with Radiating Orb gears) Note:-Dawnbringer is upgraded by smithing Sun Blade with the Strange Chunk of Ember in Grymforge (or some other place later in Act 2/3, though implementing smithing would be a hassle) ------------------------------------------------------------------------ I'm hoping for something fairly balanced, so some of the stuffs may be subject to adjustments.
