Starfield for $60 at Walmart? But should I get it?

As the title says, my better half works at this store and knew I am waiting on the price to come down before I buy on Steam. Now with this new info I have no choice( cap) but to get it, however it is Walmart and sooner or later I may want to mod this game and will because there is limits on what is compatible so I can.

Sorry it is long winded, basic, will Walmart code compatible with Nexus mods?

Walmart will simply be an agent for one version or another- Steam or Gamepass. Steam is better- someone here posted the method to mod the gamepass version, and it seems quite complicated.

However the game is sold, there should be an indication somewhere of which version it is. The install instructions will obviously the clue. Since walmart must sell other similar games, surely you can Google this question to find out if they merely take a cut from what are really steam sales, or are really MS sales (more likely).

PS the game really really isn't worth it today. I'd honestly leave it for two years, and wait for mods to fix everything that is awful, disappointing, half-baked and down-right broken. It is a wretched poor effort- even worse than Cyberpunk what first launched. I'd convinced myself it was at least better than Fallout 4, but then playing it a bit more and every awful low rent choice made just to get it out of the door makes me disgusted.

Environmental story telling, always a bit part of previous Beth games, is missing in this game because they need to keep using the same massively complex building structures again and again (with everything interior exactly the same, including the workers' bodies), so putting a 'story' on notes, monitors and tapes etc was deemed a no-no-no by Todd, because the exact same story would be present in the same building on a dozen other worlds. Starfield is defined by everything Todd ordered to be ripped out of the game, that older games had. And no radio, because if Todd could save a dime, while spending the largest budget in Beth history, he did so.

Modders will reverse all of this at least. But it will take time- two years seems a reasonable guess. Then the game could be really quite something- and I envy anyone playing Starfield the first time with all the heavy storytelling mods.
