kirshan
Ok in 1999 to 2004 I was a Hugh Everquest fan, addict, what ever! I miss the crappy graphics and fatty races. How do I get started in making playable races similar to the original EQ fatties. if anyone has already done something similar please PM me. I'm talking pre-Luclin stuff. the true Orges and Trolls. kirshan
Ok what I need is way to attach an Orge head to a playable body, preferably a large waisted muscular body there is all ready is a playable troll races that with a dark green warty texture could pass for old EQ trolls. of course if permission is granted. Zephyr2011
Well I have a thought. Look up OBMM (Oblivion Mod Manager) it comes with a BSA browser (which also doubles as an unpacker) and scroll through the Oblivion meshes and textures and find the orc body parts (and their respective textures) and the ogre head and its texture. Then d/l a dds converter (to convert the head texture) and GIMP (if you don't have Photoshop, this is essentially a free clone of it). Convert the ogre head texture into a Jpeg then edit it with gimp to be green and boily as you like it, save it as something like "EQTrollRaceHead01" then convert it into a .dds (so that it works in-game) and rename the ogre head into something like "EQTrollRaceHead" then rename the orc body parts and txtures in the same manner then place those in the meshes and texture sections of your data folder then create a new esp in the cs (construction set) and make the new race with the txtures etc. and presto, new EQ race and you did it all your self. jimuno
I miss My Mage and His pet!!! Will you also be adding some of the Classes and their abilities. I do not wish a Full EQing of Oblivion but I have to admit that they did have a nice specialization breakdown for magic users and I liked permanent controllable pets to summon for 10 sec weak ones used in Oblivion. kirshan
Jimuno, Sorry about taking so long to reply, been very busy IRL. My goal is to reproduce some of my favorite aspects of Everquest, starting with races. Then adding some of the Classes ie: Shadowknight, Shaman, Druid, possibly even Beast Lord. I may try a custom Mage type with a real pet. Working with custom races is new for me, I'm fairly good building world spaces, buildings, dungeons etc. If all goes well with the races/classes I plan on reproducing some of my favorite areas from Classic EQ. I'll most likely stay prior to Kunark. Although "The Field of Bone"and "City of Mist" could be interesting. In no way do I plan on recreating "Norrath" for Oblivion. I would need a team of Modders for that. Scripters, quest writers, modelers, textures, the list goes on. I'd be happy to add "Freeport, Neriak ,Ogguk ,Grobb and there surrounding areas "newbie lands" and a few dungeons based on EQ," Estate of Unrest" " Mistmore" were really cool. But progress will be slow till December, when the Construction season ends here in the midwest. I may post to see if anyone is interested in working on a project like this.
