If a mod needs a patch for another mod, you're better off not using one or the other.

I was looking forward to running Ai Overhaul. Decided to check and see if it was compatible with my city overhauls. Found out it wasn't, and I couldn't make a patch for it. Also found it conflicted with Cutting Room Floor. Upon checking the SE page, apparently Obscure's College of Winterhold also needs a patch that I have no clue how make in LE. So instead, I removed the damned thing. Patches are easy to make for most mods, but things that overhaul city layouts apparently aren't.

My load orders have always had more patches than mods because seemingly everything needs a bloody patch. I'm starting to think now, if I need a patch for something, I shouldn't be running the two mods together. How much shorter my load orders would be if I didn't have to run stupid patches. Every mod is made under the assumption its being run ALONE, so you can't run it with anything it could possibly conflict with. You can only have one npc overhaul, one city mod, one creature mod, one combat mod, etc... Even mods in separate categories can freaking conflict. Ai overhaul being a prime example. Yeah, its better than Immersive Citizens, but still not good enough. Such a thing simply can't be good enough.

I often wish it was still this game's early years. You didn't have to worry about conflicts, because there was just so little to chose from. We also didn't have to deal with bethesda doing everything in their power to kill modding. Massive load orders of over 100 mods used to be impossible. Mods of over 200 mods aren't possible anymore either, due to the ludicrous number of conflicts. Maybe I should just stick to mods that were made in this game's first 5 years of existence, that would seriously solve so many problems.

Decided to check for conflicts in my load order through TES5Edit. There was far more than I anticipated. Odin conflicts with Immersive Sounds Compendium. ISC apparently removes keywords from one of the spells odin overhauls. Odin also conflicts with skytest, because they both overhaul the familiar and flaming familiar in their own way. This werebear audio mod from mihail (w/e its called) conflicts with half a dozen different things.

If you want to use more than one mod, forget about categories. There's no way of knowing what will conflict or break another mod. If you're going to mod this game, you need to only use mods from a single mod author at a time. I've already had to disable half my load order because it conflicted with far too much, from my appearance overhauls to city mods to freaking Cutting Room Floor to WARP. You straight can't use anything if it wasn't made by the same mod author. Guess I'll be having to run without skytest, and I'll probably remove all my creature mods too. There's just too many damned conflicts with them. Then again, skytest is fundamentally an AI overhaul like Ai overhaul, so it shouldn't be a surprise it conflicts with everything. Clearly I need to go with truly minimalistic load orders. No more than 24 mods I think, preferably less than that. Oh, and I'll have to replace my bashed patch too for the upteenth time. I'm starting to question why I'm even trying to mod this turd of a game. Every single mod may as well conflict with something else. You may as well only use one freaking mod conflicts are so out of control. I mean, over 2/3 of all my load orders are just freaking patches.
