They'll appear to start conversations with each other, but then just sit there saying nothing, tho the animations still continue. Usually it doesn't break the game, but it seems to effect certain quests as well- the conversation between Thoronir and Agarmir for 'Unfriendly Competition' doesn't work at all, and another conversation in 'Corruption and Conscience' locked up several times. It's started recently and happens randomly (tho often), but I can't seem to link it to any one mod in particular. Switching them all off and playing my old vanilla toon seems to help, but I can't seem to pin-point the problem. Halp!Thanks. Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

Maigrets Posted July 2, 2009 Share Posted July 2, 2009 Your problem is the Cheydinhal Petshop assuming it's version 1.7 you have. This mod changed the Global settings for how long NPC speech is delayed before it plays so the NPC's will continue to behave as if they are speaking but their animations etc will be over before the speech kicks in. If you have the Construction Set: Start the CS then go to File then the Data menu and a list of your mods will appear. Highlight the Cheydinhal Petshop esp and click Details at the bottom of the window. Find GMST in the list. The entry you need to fix is fAISpeechDefaultMult. Select it so it's highlighted and press the delete key on the keyboard.You will get a message saying "You have chosen to toggle ignore one or more records.." etc. This is what you want to do in this case. It will toggle Ignore on the problem record. Click OK. Close the details window. Put a check in the box next to Cheydinhal Petshop.esp in the Data Files window and make it active by clicking the Set as Active File button at the bottom. Load the CS and when it's finished all you need to do is go to File > Save and you're done. Exit the CS and you're problem should be fixed. Well wouldn't you know, something is still off. (And somehow i am sure there will be more problems as i progress with the game). I ran into the same Thoronir and Agarmir problem. They just stand there after i tracked them to their meeting place. I do not have the Cheydinhal Petshop mod though. So could i ask for help what else might be causing this?I did deactivate all animation mods as well as behaving modifiers, but no success so far. Maigrets Posted August 27, 2009 Share Posted August 27, 2009 Unfortunately, this is one of the many bugs in the vanilla game that can happen at random. Like a conversation between a certain abbreviated guy and a guard in Cheydinhal..always happened to me before I even discovered mods. You could try going back to a previous save or starting the quest over again if the save isn't too far back. I gather you mean the cinematic doesn't start where you cannot control your character and they just stand mute. If going back to previous saves doesn't work you could advance the question via the console. The console command to do this is: Setstage MS29 50 That will get you past the conversation and should update your quest page. Be careful doing this with some quests though. It can cause you not to get the reward and other glitches. After i posted i looked around some more in the forums and found a notice to a neat little program called Tes4Edit. I spent a lot of time reading up on it and now i am using it to "clean" all my mods. During that i noticed several things that have been problems in my games (such as suddenly different language appearing for some markers) and have been editing the mods carefully to see if that would help. Now for the Thoronir problem, that was actually a funny case. It was Kendogirl conflicting with the Unofficial Shivering Isles patch. When i put Kendogirl before Shivering Isles (or disabled BOTH) then Thoronir would start the cinematic. Kendogirl seems to be full of these problems. It also conflicts with the Shivering Isles Quest starter ("A Mysterious Door" notice never appears with Kendogirl active). So i used Tes4Edit to clean Kendogirl (twice!) of identical to master files. That fixed the Thoronir problem. Unfortunately not the SI problem. I had to remove the reference in Kendogirl by hand (something i am not sure i should do), but it worked. So now i am on the hunt for other things like that. First of all cleaning all my mods, and then going into detail. So far i found one map marker, which was left in japanese in the mod, so it showed up all gibberish on the map (Sexydancer modified the Temple of the One). I hope i am not messing around too much, but i am just copying i the original reference names (which then makes it so that they are identical to master and can be cleaned out). Now i am doing the Thieves Quest and when i had to ask a beggar for where Merendethel was she answered in gibberish. Well... on to the hunt for that (although i am very careful with quest things, that is probably a dialog somewhere, right? Just copy the original over it and i should be fine...) Anyway, thanks again for the quick help. I am slowly learning how to use all the tools, like wyre bash, Tes4Edit, and of course Tes4CS more out of necessity than how to learn to mod.
