Some of my MO2 profiles crash outside of Windhelm

This is getting frustrating.

Crash log and MO2's log are not much help.

Fast traveling, carriage rides, boat rides and even on foot, I crash on my way to Windhelm on most of my profiles.

If I copy the non-crashing profile, create a new character and go to Windhelm, I still crash.

Part of the frustration is that profiles that have the same modlist behave differently.

And a barebones list now crashes and a really long one doesn't.

New Games too.

A few internet searches hint that the problem may lie in MO2. It may, for some unknown reason, overload my machine's substantial memory with some process. I see this in the MO2 lof, sometimes, where it is creating new instances that need twice the memory and destroying the older one.

On one profile, the CTD happens at the stables and the dock consistently and in Windhelm itself regularly. On another profile, with the exact same modlist, no CTDs at all. If I copy that profile and start a new playthrough I get CTDs in those spots.

On older profiles, with a streamlined modlist, that had visited Windhelm before, I am now getting CTDs.

Thanks the gods of Bethesda that I know a few console commands like coc!

This still doesn't make any sense.

I've been experimenting with new games and crash reliably at the Windhelm docks, either right after I finish loading in or a little later as I move towards the bridge.

I've been disabling mods and retrying to the same effect.

I switched to a profile and saved game that doesn't crash at the docks or bridge.  I ran her all over the place, across the bridge, took the boat to Raven Rock and back, took the ferry across the river...  No CTD.

Then exited to the start screen, clicked New and started a new game.  I crashed to desktop immediately after clicking no to Survival and yes to Talos.

Can a mod conflict do that sort of thing?  Or is this just some kind of Bethesda bug?  Why would an old save-game not crash and a new-game crash consistently on the same modlist?

~sighs~

I think I found the fix!

~knocks on wood and throws salt~

Armors of the Velothi Pt2 Crash Fixes by EasyHarper undeletes and replaces some NPCs deleted by the mod.  No more CTDs.

Crazy that it only effected certain playthroughs using the same modlist.

As frustrating and confusing as this was -- it kinda the point of the whole mod game, neh?
