InDarkestNight
This is something I never thought about, because I rarely play with followers, and I also rarely bother to start the main questline. I just thought of this while watching a goofy skyrim video where the uploader accidentally threw their follower off a cliff. This got me thinking; would this actually kill them? They ARE protected, which means that they can only die to damage from the player (well, technically any damage can kill them, enemies just won't target them while they're down, but you know). The shout does deal damage, but its not nearly enough to one-shot a follower. In this circumstance, they would actually be dealt lethal damage from the fall. Would this count as the player killing them or not? Also, can having the protected status even protect an npc from a fall? Like I said, protected npcs can still technically take damage, they just won't be targeted by the AI. AI CAN kill protected characters if you try to use them as a shield from ranged attacks, or they end up caught in the area of effect of a spell. Does this mean then that fall damage can kill them? Traps can't kill them I know (stupid followers...). I would test this myself, but I was working on a mage playthrough which means I won't have a follower and I also won't have shouts. I actually won't have shouts again until I do a warrior build after the NEXT playthrough. I'm testing out a perk overhaul, so I'm doing a straight mage, stealth, and warrior character to test out all its features. Starting with a mage to also test out a spell mod made by the same MO. Point is, I won't be getting an opportunity to test this for quite a while, otherwise I would.
