Ok I'm sure this has been posted a billion times [but i can't seem to find any posts on it o.O]

I've tried to install the BABE meshes

http://www.fallout3nexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=1185

and

http://www.fallout3nexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=4803

And well... Nothing. Nada. Not working. At all.

My Fallout folder is on the my second HDD [e:\Bethesda Softworks\Fallout 3] which is where I install all of my games and rarely [if ever] do I encounter problems.

Now, I've followed all the instructions given [binvalidatateolderfiles=1] Used ArchiveInvaladion Invalidated! Even added the manual ArchiveInvalidation.txt with the script lines

BUT NOTHING WORKS D:

What's going wrong?!

Wow; I am having almost the exact same problem as you on a new installation. My second drive is the D: drive, but that's the only difference.

What patch version are you using? I installed the game and patched it to 1.6 right away. Maybe the instructions have to be changed for the new patch? Because no matter what I do, the Textures.bsa and Meshes.bsa files do not change size--so they are not being patched. I noticed that the ArchiveInvalidation file is being put in the Data directory where it's not supposed to go; but it doesn't seem to matter where I put it. (In Data or one folder up.)

Sorry I can't help, but maybe someone else here can.

I found a way around it, if you want to go through the extra work (using the FOMM tool).

Since you have 2 drives, copy the textures.bsa and meshes.bsa to your first drive as a backup. Then, use the FOMM tool to extract those two files to a temporary (working) folder on the first drive. Now, copy/paste the files you want to replace into the working folder. Use the FOMM tool one more time to repack the folders back on your 2nd drive (don't forget to enable maximum compression.) Also, enable Archive Invalidation or when your player spawns, you won't be able to move. :)

I verified that this works, but I seem to have a separate, more serious problem that I will start a separate thread on. Good Luck!

I hear 'ya! I don't have FOMM on my machine anymore because I'd trying to troubleshoot another problem (and I want a clean install) so this is from memory:

1. Download the FOMM executable here and install it: http://sourceforge.net/projects/fomm/files/

2. In your Fallout 3\Data directory, copy both Fallout - Meshes.bsa and Fallout - Textures.bsa to your first drive for safe keeping.

3. Use the "BSA extractor" button to extract all files from the 2nd drive to a working folder on the 1st drive, i.e. 'working meshes' and 'working textures'.

4. Take the files you want to replace and copy/paste (overwrite) them in the working folders you created.

5. Use the FOMM tool BSA creator button to re-compress the whole working directory back into the step #2 .bsa \Data file directory (look for a drop-down box to select maximum compression; do that otherwise you'll be using even more space.) You can over-write the originals since you have backups.

6. There is a toggle archive invalidated button already in the FOMM tool; if you did this already and you have the ArchiveInvalidationInvalidated!.bsa file in your \Data directory, you don't need to do it again. You don't need any ArchiveInvalidated.txt files.

See how that works; if it does not, you can simply remove everything and copy back your original .bsa files to the \Data directory.
