Ranger22
Seems my roommate has been playing Oblivion on my computer, he downloaded and installed around fifty or so mods. Some of which are not even compatable and he did not even have the good sence to back up the data file before he did. While trying to uninstall a large portion of these mods I seem to have deleted a section of the file that the game needs to run properly. Usually this would not be to big of a problem because I would just remove the game and reinstall it, but I recently moved and lost the games install disk. :/ So if someone could point me in the right direction to getting a clean data file or upload one for me to download I would greatly appreciate it, even some advice or a shoulder to cry on would be awsome at this point. If anyone wants to know, yes I did buy this game. Both the original and the GOTY edition, and I can provide prof if needed. (p.s. spell check does not seem to be working for me, idk why, so sry in advance for the miss spellings.)
bben46
First, if you still have them there - you can retrieve the missing files from your recycle bin These are the files that are installed on a new install. Copy everything else to a new folder outside of Oblivion. Once you have a working game, before adding any patches or mods, make a copy of this somewhere else such as Backups\Oblivion_backups\original_data Contents of a clean install \data folder Music (folder)Shaders (folder)Video (folder)Credits (text) Oblivion - Meshes.bsaOblivion - Misc.bsaOblivion - Sounds.bsaOblivion - Textures - Compressed.bsaOblivion - Voices1.bsaOblivion - voices2.bsaOblivion.esm As long as he didn't erase any of your saved games they will still be there - below his.You may have to reinstall most of your mods as the meshes and texture files may be lost. If you kept the original zipped downloads that will not be difficult.
