Rockdude3
I'm in total freak-out mode now... I think I just lost my level 20 character. I accidentally saved over him with another character I had, thinking I'd clicked 'Load' not 'Save'. I looked in the Saves folder and I do have a backup save, but it was from six hours beforehand! I really want to know if there is any way I can get the save back. I still have the overwritten save file, in case I need it. I thought I might be able to 'Restore Previous Version', but that tab isn't there when I go into 'Properties'. Now, I go play Oblivion and sulk because I'm so stupid... "Restore" in Windows works because the old files have been saved to a compressed cache, from whence they can be retrieved. An overwritten Save, that is a new file with the same name, can not be recovered becasue the old info no longer exists. I save every time I travel, or before a fight, and automatically whenever the game is paused (available under game settings) thus there's no more than 20 minutes between saves. One thing about Fallout 3 is that there are many ways to play your character, here's a chance to do the last six hours in a completely different way. Oblivion has less choice in that regard.
