Okay, you provided very little info so I cannot make any assumptions.

First: What are you using to download and install mods? (NMM, MO, etc.)

Second: Try this and tell me what happens:

1. On your desktop, click the Start button and type in the search box: steam

2. In the list that appears, right-click on Steam and select "Open file location"

3. In the Explorer window that opens, scroll down on the left side and dbl-click: SteamApps, then common, then Skyrim, then Data. In the right-hand pane, look for the scripts directory. On my machine, its between the meshes and shaders directories.

4. If its there (it won't exist in a vanilla install), dbl-click on it and see if you get the error.

5. If its NOT there, or you don't get the error in step 4, you probably have a permissions error. You need to find the exe file for your mod manager/installer, right-click on it, select Properties-->Compatibility and tick the "Run this program as an administrator" check box and Apply the change. (If you need help with this step, make sure you answer my First question) Then run it and try to install a mod.

Thx. Since you're installing manually, I will assume you're familiar with moving around in directories, etc. Please be sure to provide the exact error messages that may come up.

Try this:

1. Right-click on the scripts directory and select Properties. If it comes up, on the General tab, check the "Size:" and "Contains:" values. Put them in the next post.

2. Click the Security tab. In the top box, click on the Administrators group so its highlighted. (I assume you have Administrator priveleges) Look in the bottom box and make sure all the permissions under the Allow column are checked, except "Special permissions".
