taylos
A week ago or so I repurchased Oblivion on Steam. I bought the game when it came out ages ago, but lent it to a friend before I even installed it, and he liked it so much he apparently didn't want to give it back. So I installed it and read that mods make it incredibly more fun to play. I read up on FCOM and decided to spend the time to get that thing installed for a more enjoyable game. Now, they have a pretty detailed installation guide. I followed it to the letter. The game from what I can tell works fine, there are no conflicts, no crashes... aside from one minor thing that seems to put a kink into my enjoyment of the game. I tested this out in several of the Ayleid ruins near the Imperial City. Each set of ruins generally had the typical bandits and/or undead infestations of some sort. They were really well done aside from one out of place NPC. Staada and... multiple Staadas can generally be found in these ruins. She is wearing Golden Saint Armor and is incredibly tough to take down. She knocks down, disarms and smashes your face in. What I am desperate to know is this... is she supposed to be there? (in some cases more than one of her)? I am not looking for a help me figure out what I did wrong response, I am just looking for people who use the FCOM package to tell me whether or not they experience this as well. Some Notes: I have uninstalled and reinstalled Oblivion 4 times now, reintegrating the mods via the installation guide point for point each time. I consider myself a master at it now. Each time the first thing I do is to bolt over to Vilverin to test whether or no the Staada spawn(s) will be there. Each time she is there, and each time she delivers an impressive beating to me. I slid the difficulty slider down to 0% one time and smacked her around for a while and received a daedra heart, the time after that she had a fairly expensive chest plate on her, which seemed REALLY out of place for the level of the instance. I look forward to your responses so I can figure out whether to give up on FCOM or devote more time to troubleshooting the issue. Thank you for reading. DanaDark
Holy cow no one has ever responded to your post? Well, I will.... I use FCOM, and love it. This NPC you mentioned... well, I've never once seen her... =X And in FCOM, there will be mobs that are much lower than you, much higher than you, and some that scale with your level. There are also some that scale with you level within a certain range of levels. This is meant to prevent lowly bandits and such from being decked out in armor the god's would kill for and other seemingly out of place things. As for this girl you're seeing around, all over... can't help you there, never seen her... now I want to!
taylos
Thanks for the response. I reinstalled all the mods again (for the 5th time) but enabled the core mods one at a time during the install and ran into vilverin each time to see when exactly the Staada mob would show up. For some reason it seems to be an issue with Warcry for Oblivion. Not sure what I did to mess up the installation (I did patch it) but I just used the FCOM_NoWarcry plugin to remedy the issue. Thanks again for the response, at the very least I now know for certain she shouldn't be popping up like that.
