Custom background music doesn't play

Okay, first of all, I've been playing Fallout 3 for a long time. I've recently started playing again, and like I did back when it was just released, I immediately replaced all the explore and dungeon music with other music (Mark Morgan's soundtrack of Fallout 1 & 2 to be precise), which used to work fine for me. On my original installation of Fallout 3 I pretty much replaced all the music and I've never had a problem.

However, they don't play at all. Whenever I'm in a dungeon or in the wastes, no music can be heard. The files I haven't replaced work just fine, so whenever I enter Megaton, the original public music DOES play.

The music files are in .mp3 format. They're 320k and have ID3v2 tags.

What do I do to get the music playing? Wandering around the wastes has become quite dull without a soundtrack. :(

I'd love it if someone could tell me what's wrong here.

Well, I don't know about FO3, but in Oblivion the mere existance of ID3 tags and similar meta data prevented them from playing already.

They must condone to some specific file and compression format I can't remember anymore, but those tags already'd be my first guess here.

If removing the tags and meta data isn't enough already, I suggest looking at the specific format of the existing files that do work and copying these settings.

Removing the ID3v2 tags seems to have done the trick. Many thanks and good vibes to you, my good sir!

However, I could swear mp3 files with tags used to work just fine when I first started playing. I never bothered to remove the tags back then. Is this an 1.7 issue?

Anyway, like I said, thanks!
