Eyeballjones
Just yesterday I had a power outage while I was playing Skyrim, and then today I can't load skyrim now via SKSE loader. It worked yesterday but today it just opens it with the command prompt briefly, and then nothing loads. I go to command processes and TESV only takes up 256-300K. I tried reinstalling SKSE, but that didn't work either. I can only load my first save at Helgen with the skyrim launcher, but I can't open anything after that probably because I use a custom race. Also, after I load skyrim with the SKSE launcher, after about 5-10 minutes I get a notification saying "Skyrim has stopped working A problem caused the program to stop working correctly windows will close the program and notify you if a solution is available." Wait, you can or you can't load Skyrim via SKSE?I'm gonna go on the assumption that you meant Skyrim Launcher.Well, crashing while using SKSE dependant mods without SKSE makes total sense. I'd recommend backing up everything in your Data folder that Steam won't automatically download (mods, tools, stuff like that), and try a fresh install of Skyrim. If you can get SKSE to work on a brand new install, just paste everything back into the Data folder and see what happens.

And it just started without prior incident like a power outage or so. TESV only takes up 256-300 - same. SKSE log looks pretty much the same too, stopping at StorageUtil.dll. Reinstalling skse didn´t work. Starting the game through Skyrim launcher works, again the same. DefectiveLife
I'm also having this issue. The game launches in the vanilla loader, but with the SKSE launcher, it stays in the background. The fans speed up and TESV shows up in the Task Manager, showing that it's taking up 15-20-ish % of my CPU and 29.0 MB of memory, yet I cannot switch to it. It doesn't appear on-screen. This has been happening since my game CTD'ed in one of the instances where the Psijic Order freezes time.
Rattlesnark
Solved. See EDIT 2 below. I just had this issue after my PC crashed while I was playing. I noticed that we share the common cause of the game ended abruptly (power outage, PC crash, CTD...). Here are my findings upon the matter thus far: Initial crashes upon attempting to run Skyrim using SKSE had Windows errors pertaining gameoverlayrenderer.dll. I figured this had something to do with Steam Overlay, so I disabled the overlay completely and tried again. This time, the Windows crash log pointed to 'Fault Module Name: gibbed_interface_extensions.dll_unloaded', which is a very odd cause of a crash. This actually happens to be a file in the /Data/SKSE/Plugins folder, though I'm not sure of what it came installed with. I moved the aforementioned DLL into a backup folder, and tried running once more. Again, it crashed, but this time pointing to 'StorageUtil.dll_unloaded'. This is also a SKSE plugin, so I moved it into a backup as well (basically, deleting the file). This time however, the game runs fine up to the main menu. Other SKSE plugins (from various mods. E.g. showRaceMenu_preCacheKiller.dll) seem to be running alright, considering the files are still in the Plugins directory. It seems the culprit on my end are the two .dll SKSE plugin files mentioned above. I'll try to figure out what's going on, where the files are from and what-not. EDIT 1:Missed reetpetit666's post. Hello, I´m having the same problems - though I don´t get the error message. And it just started without prior incident like a power outage or so. TESV only takes up 256-300 - same. Does anyone know which mod the StorageUtil.dll comes from - perhaps a reinstallation of that respective mod would help? This is pretty much my problem, StorageUtil.dll being one of them. Odd that you just had this issue without a crash happening, though. Still looking into the matter. Might take some time, after I get my beauty sleep. EDIT 2:Well, figured it out. Despite the other .dll files coming up as errors, the sole culprit was StorageUtil (gibbed_interface_extensions.dll I have since restored). There is a 0kb StorageUtil.save file in my SKSE/Plugins directory. I figure something must have messed it up somewhere. Removing this file gets SKSE running file again, though I've not tested the extent of this file not being present. As for the source of StorageUtil, I'll mention for the betterment of science and public knowledge, is the SexLab Framework. khunzo
This does seem to happen when you have unhandled gamestops, manually overriding storageutil seems to get it working Again tho (i have no idea why a dll should get corrupted by unhandled exception, but it semms to be the case.) medic975
Worked for me too, just deleted the save and it's fine. Wish I had found this before I went and tried reinstalling DirectX, dot Net, and VCE...
werty2121
I'm having the same problem. Where would I find that save file? I searched for StorageUtil.save. Is that right? cause i didn't find itThanks...
werty2121
And by the same problems I mean, SKSE will not work at all, and Skyrim works fine when launched from Steam or Skyrim or NMM. And while playing skyrim, the computer sometimes crashes, not just the game.
