Repair Kits would come in two varieties: Weapon Repair Kits and Armour Repair Kits. Repair Kits could be bought from various traders and found in various locations throughout the Wasteland or may be dropped by npc's upon death, in much the same way as Weapon Mod Kits by Antistar. the various Repair Kits could be used to repair the weapon or armour in place of the normal "repaired with" item, this would be done the exact same way via the PipBoy inventory item menus as a normal repair, and would consume the Repair Kit when used. Repair Kits would come in varying skill levels/sizes/prices (25,50,75,100) or could even reflect the Repair skill level of the seller ( 5 if it's Panada :P ). Repair Kits would weigh less than carrying spare items, perhaps 1-4 1lbs in weight dependent on the above scaling. enabling multiple kits to be carried. Repair Kits could use a scaled vanilla Toolbox model or have their own unique cutom mesh and texture created. comments that expand upon this idea are welcome. n.b. i know that there are myriad mods for various Repair systems, none use this proposed method however, which owes more to WMK in terms of conception/ease of use.
